Hi,
I’m currently travelling in Japan and have had the opportunity to get to play hands on with the Quest 3 headset and am impressed with what you can get for the money.
Also, the price here in Japan is over $100AUD cheaper than back home, so I’m considering purchasing one here but I’m concerned about the warranty if I have any issues.
Can I get confirmation from someone at Meta what warranty I would have, if any, once I bring it back home to AU? Noting that I wouldn’t be able to use the charger back home to charge it (unless it’s multi voltage?).
TIA!

@defecta Only buy this in your country (Australia in your case, also where I live). I have been there, done that in the past by buying a headset in the US and later found that if I need warranty sevice it needed to be shipped from the country it was purchased from. I would need to ship it to a friend in the US and use his shipping address, then have him ship it back to me. Trust me, it's not worth saving $100 imho. Just buy it from the Meta store, or Amazon Au when you get back home. Cheers.

Hi @defecta 🙂
I'm not sure, if you'll get the usual 2years warranty that you'll get when buying it here in Europe.
Beside that, i saw posts from people who had trouble with shipping address when they want replacement ......because the country from what the Quest came(Japan) wasn't the same country(Austria) where the replacement has to sent.
I would not recommend to buy the Quest abroad, even it will save you some money...........just my opinion.🙂

Thanks Choleni.
FWIW, AU is Australia. You know, the land down under? Kangaroos and koalas? 😅
And Austria is (and I had to look this up because I didn’t know myself) `.at`.
In Japan, I can walk into multiple stores and purchase one over the counter, so the delivery address for replacements vs the original purchase address shouldn’t be an issue.
However, I could potentially see any warranty claims being denied when an item was purchased in Japan but a warranty replacement is requested to be shipped to another country? Which is why I’m asking for confirmation. Meta doesn’t exactly have a history of exemplary customer satisfaction like Apple does. And I think I’m being quite polite
Also, we are only graced with a 1 year warranty here in AU. But I would hope our consumer guarantee, enforced by the ACCC, would protect us if Meta tried to deny a warranty claim after just 12 months for an item of this value. Of course, I would have had to purchase it in Australia for that to be applicable.
Further, I didn’t see any of the required notices to inform Australian customers of the consumer guarantee on the AU webpage for purchasing.
So I’m a little skeptical that Meta is aware of our laws, thus I doubt Meta would even come to the party if it took engaging the ACCC to get an item that failed or developed a fault replaced or repaired within a reasonable time frame.
I would really like some one from Meta to comment on this post before I purchase, please?
