Quest 1 apps do not update, cloud backup not working

As per subject. I can see in my meta horizons mobile app that I have multiple apps that need updating but they will not update in my Quest 1. The apps do not show as needing updates at all.

I checked my cloud backup date and the last good backup was December 2023. All my apps are backed up to that date and after that they all stop working.

My software version is 0.50.

I have 8gb free space on the device.

Welcome to the Meta Quest Community Forums! We're glad that you've joined us here! 

Whilst you can still use your Meta Quest 1 and play available apps and games. The support for the Quest 1 has ended as such there will be no new updates or features brought to the headset and some apps and games will no longer be updated or be supported. This also includes some features which may no longer perform optimally.

I'm sorry, but that's unacceptable. How can I update my apps?

Thank you for getting back to us. As we mentioned, the Quest 1 no longer receives official support or new features, so there is no way to update apps officially. We realise this is disappointing for Quest 1 users, but we would recommend checking out our exciting new devices, such as the newly-announced Quest 3S, with the latest features and more capable hardware.

How do I get a refund for my device?

Hi there @Ithayla,

 

We understand that this is not the best situation, and we thank you for your understanding. 

 

As we have stopped selling the Quest since 2020 we can not offer you a refund, if you purchased the product from a retail store, please contact the store to request a refund.

If the device ceased to be sold in 2020 then end of support in 2023 is absurdly poor levels of service.

I bought the headset directly from oculus via amazon on Jan 21 2020. Please advise on how I can acquire a refund or credit towards another device.

We understand that this is can be quite frustrating, but we are unable to give you a refund for the Quest as this device has reached it's end of life in January 2023.

 

If you would like to return/refund the Quest device please turn to the retailer where you have purchased this device.

I am aware that you are not in charge of the decision but I am extremely unhappy and will be telling everyone I know in real life and social media to avoid purchasing meta products for the rest of my life.

We understand that you are not satisfied, but as the Quest has been discontinued we unfortunately can not assist you further.

 

If you would be willing to try one of our newer products like the Meta Quest 3S, we believe you could be surprised as how far the world of Virtual Reality has come ever since the Quest.

 

And if you are still unhappy with anything, you will be able to return any device purchased from our store, thanks to our standard return policy of 30 days.

 

We hope you consider these options, before concluding to not continue to experience the immersive world of the Metaverse.
