My Quest 1 would occasionally become bogged down and slow (maybe once or twice a year) and thus I would do a full reset and the boot up and performance times would be back to brand new speeds. After my last reset (Feb 2024) it is now oddly SLOWER than it was before. Like there was a firmware or OS version that somehow made it worse. V49 or V50? Has this happened to anyone? Can I revert back to faster/cleaner firmware? Any other ideas? I hope Meta fixes this......

Hey @asrenzo, we’re just dropping in to provide further clarity to your question concerning the performance of your Quest 1 device. We’re grateful to the Quest 1 community for pushing VR forward. As we look to the future, we are no longer shipping new features for Quest 1; which means certain apps may not be available or perform optimally. Hello there, @mattanfang! While it's true that the Quest 1 is going through some changes, they shouldn't necessarily cause slowness as you're reporting. While the Quest 1 software no longer receives version updates after v50, it's possible there might have been security patches since then, which might have increased the software's performance demands on the hardware. We hope this information is useful- if you have any other questions or concerns, please reach out!

A normal boot time should not be 10 minutes after a clean reset. Something is wrong. It used to be 30 seconds after a reset. Things are incredibly slow now. Is there any way to downgrade firmware or could you please relay this to your Dev Team so they can fix this bug.

I've submitted 2 bug reports already. That doesn't really help me know if this can or will be fixed. Thanks

Have been seeing this issue since 2023

I have the same problem with my Quest1 device. Ok, the device is already discontinued and does not receive updates, but it is intolerable that those of us who want to use it always have to wait 10 minutes for boot.

I have the same issue. Meta will continue to dodge the question. The reason your device no longer works is because it has been forced OS updates that are not performant that will basically disable your device, forcing you to upgrade to a newer Quest model.
Back in the day (pre-net updates), consoles, devices, games were reliable. Aside from blowing on the cart, you can still fire up an original Nintendo Entertainment System and get the same experience.
Ever since Steve Jobs passed (I know it sounds unrelated, but affected the entire market), the concept of allowing hardware to function improperly and force an upgrade has become a part of the model...previously the idea was to maintain the best user experience.
It's an extremely wasteful policy in capitalism but one favors updates.
