Hi everyone,
I have a Quest 3 and cannot connect the the wifi (it's a freebox, french internet provider).

Steps i took to troubleshoot :

  • I did manage to connect the quest to my cellphone via hotspot.
  • I factory reseted the quest and retried to connect to the freebox via passwords and QR code.
  • I trued to connect the quest via the phone app.
  • Rooter was rebooted, i was in the same room etc.
  • We have all other devices connecting without problem to this rooter.

Thanks for your help

i’ve been experiencing drops at 5ghz so set up a 6ghz network, using firmware v65 and a u7-pro. at first it connected okay… then trying to use it for anything caused drop out loops until eventually the device stopped connecting to wifi completely, different networks, whatever the band, across restarts and power cycles. factory reset and we’re back to an unreliable 5ghz connection but, definitely not a great experience so far.

Guys, I think I found the solution. I remember that around the v5* update, the Metaquest 2 was having connection issues with Chromecast, frequently dropping out. The solution was to set my router's Channel Width to 20MHz. Today, June 14, 2024, I updated to version 65 and the Wi-Fi simply wouldn't connect; it was stuck on the IP configuration. I tried everything (thanks to the forum folks who were trying to find a solution). I noticed that when connecting to another router, the Wi-Fi worked normally. That's when I remembered to change the Channel Width to 20/40/80/160MHz on my Tplink AX5400 router, and miraculously, everything started working again. I hope this helps someone.

Thanks, this is detailed information and may help with initial setups, however the main issue is with the Pro Controllers staying connected to the headset.

This may help with people doing setup's for the first time, but not with the controllers that merely use the WiFi protocol to send information between the controllers and the headsets.

Meta are getting quiet again, and whilst I don't envy the difficult task the mods have got here, we deserve at least an email detailing their awareness and plan to deal with the issue, and maybe to contact gaming media publications to make more people aware of it.

My first device was fine apart from the dead pixel . It got replaced with refurbished then I had this problem since then reached to support and I got another refurbished replacement and still the same. We paying for subscription that we can’t even enjoy.

To be honest I am quite disappointed myself. Bought a Quest 3 which I want to use to primarly playing Multiplayer games and/or playing using Wireless protocol and I get an inconsistent Wi-Fi on 5GHZ network. The network is placed less than 2 meters than where I play and it's on a low-density channel. The router is a FritzBox 5530.

I hope update v67 will solve this issue, because v66 hasn't.

So I don't really know what the issue is, last night I went for 2 hours without Disconnecting, then all of a sudden it kept doing it every 10 minutes again. I am wondering if it may have something to do with the fact that I can't change my channel since I am on the freebox.

Hopping that v67 solve the issue 😞

Hey everyone! Just popping back in to let you know the team is still working on getting a resolution rolled out as soon as they can. As I mentioned previously, it should hopefully roll out in one of the upcoming updates. I don't have any information on when V67 will be rolling out, but if I happen to find out more, I'll be sure to let you all know! As always, thank you again for your extended patience!

Hello, thanks for your message! When can we expect an upcoming update? Is it weeks or months?

Usually new firmware is released every month or so, however the rollout for V66 was botched for different reasons as reported here and we're almost 3 weeks into the V66 cycle.

I'm guessing V66 was already in development by the time this issue was reported and I think V67 should be delayed a month and existing issues worked out for a mid-release patch rather than add any new features.

Best guess is V67 will announced I'm about 2 weeks, with V68 in 6-7 weeks; with each having a rollout delay of a week or two.

Basically, if they're not sorting it out in V67 then we're looking at almost 2 months before V68 is being rolled out

This is purely speculative of course, but hopefully Meta are taking the issue seriously and working on a mid-release patch, (such as a V66.5).
