Hi everyone,
I have a Quest 3 and cannot connect the the wifi (it's a freebox, french internet provider).

Steps i took to troubleshoot :

  • I did manage to connect the quest to my cellphone via hotspot.
  • I factory reseted the quest and retried to connect to the freebox via passwords and QR code.
  • I trued to connect the quest via the phone app.
  • Rooter was rebooted, i was in the same room etc.
  • We have all other devices connecting without problem to this rooter.

Thanks for your help

It’s fully true that PCVR is not the core business of META for the Q3 but a (very) small part of its thoughts. For me, I bought the Q3 exclusively for PCVR to replace my old HPG2 for flight sim and so I’ve invested as well in a good router, I encountered same problems as everybody in AP and finally used it in router in order to create a dedicated subnet in 6E only devoted to VirtuelDesktop and that is working. I’m going to verify that with V67 I’d just installed…., However, I also connected the Q3 in stand alone mode to my old home router in wifi 5 in AP without any problems of disconnections from the beginning to watch sometimes films or communicate in VR or test some stand alone games.

According to my router settings, it is in router mode, and I also get disconnected when playing standalone games, so it's not just PCVR that is affected. If I wanted to play any standalone game online, it would be impossible as well, as I get disconnected approximately once per hour.

According to my router settings, it is already in router mode, and I also get disconnected when playing standalone games, so it's not just PCVR that is affected. If I wanted to play any standalone game online, it would be impossible as well, as I get disconnected approximately once per hour.

Hello,

I got my Quest 3 months ago. I have been following this thread for a while, trying to find a solution but with no luck.

I have a 5GHz router from my internet provider, which is in router mode. I have tried changing channels, setting a fixed MAC address on the Quest, and disabling the 2.4GHz band.

I experience Wi-Fi drops all the time, whether playing standalone or PC games. This has essentially turned my device into a useless brick unless I only want to play standalone single-player games.

I hope this gets fixed soon; otherwise, I will never purchase a Meta device again, as I have never encountered this type of issue with any other device I have ever purchased.

Thanks.

Like many others I've been using my quest 3 before for many months with no issues, nothing in my network changed and approximately 2 months ago I've been getting random disconnects on my quest 3 and nowhere else.

This is clearly an issue with a software update on the quest, so telling customers to change their router settings won't solve it, it needs to be solved by meta developers on an update.

Just to contribute my experience. I come from Germany, which may have different regulations regarding WLAN.

I've been following the thread for a week now. Before that, I had already been in contact with support. I have also owned a Quest 3 for several months and had no problems with my WLAN until 1-2 months ago.

In addition to my Fritzbox 7590 AX with 5Ghz WLAN, I also use a TP-Link AXE75 that I bought separately as an AP for 6Ghz WIFI 6E. I mainly use it for PCVR and the WIFI 6E for this, which also worked wonderfully.

After I wanted to get back into VR after a longer break and updated the Quest to v66, I was no longer able to connect to my WLAN. The connection was established and then immediately disconnected again. After another week's break, I tried again and was able to install the now available v67 thanks to the hotspot on my cell phone.

I have the same problems with this too. Neither the 2.4Ghz, 5Ghz nor the 6Ghz network worked. The support team was at least able to help me get back on the network by deactivating IPv6. Which works, but cannot be a viable long-term solution.

In addition, I can unfortunately only connect to the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz networks. With the 6Ghz WIFI 6E, I don't even get the password prompt when I try to connect.

Please meta, i cant play online and cant play any cloud gaming services. I tried it with 2,4ghz but its a huge difference to 5ghz

Go back in this thread. I wrote about the same configuration. AP, does not work (anymore) but it does work if you set the AXE75 as a router with Static Routing to your fritzbox, while they are connected via wan.

@SimpleCJ Have you had time yet to test the 6ghz XE75 further? I tried again last night for a couple of hours using Virtual Desktop Beat Saber PCVR and didn't have a single disconnection. I have now made the headset forget the 5ghz network and it is connecting exclusively to the 6ghz band on the XE75. For me, it seems to be back to behaving as it was on software v63. I know other users with different hardware are still having issues so I'm hoping that the XE75 remains unaffected if and when Meta fixes the issue!

Hey I've been having a problem with getting my Quest 3 do connect to my 6Ghz wifi network.

  • It does discover the network
  • It does not state that the password is incorrect
  • It does not connect after entering the password

I can without issue connect to any wifi network on 5Ghz or 2.4Ghz. However using that to play games via PCVR isn't an option due to constant random stutters / lags.

I'm using a TP-Link AXE75 / AXE5400 router for my 6Ghz network. I've already tried factory resetting it.

The problem in detail is: When I select my 6Ghz wifi network and enter its password, the Quest simply will not connect to it. It does add the network under the "My Networks" tab. However clicking on connect next to it will again prompt me to enter the password. Doing so again does not connect. If I click on "Previous Networks" I can see my 6Ghz wifi with the message "Can't connect. Try again later.". Trying again later does not change anything. Nor does removing / forgetting the network and re-adding it.

I have also tried to connect my Quest 3 via the Meta quest on Android to my wifi. When I select my 6Ghz wifi on that it does not offer me a password prompt and instead loads forever. I can use the app to connect to any 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz network this way however.

From official responses I have seen that the Quest 3 does support Wifi6 and Wifi6e / 6Ghz networks. So I'm not sure what the issue is.

Any help would be appreciated.

PS: My Quest 3 is updated to the most recent version.

UPDATE:

I have noticed that the 6Ghz network was not the issue. I noticed that I was unable to connect my Quest to any WiFi anymore, even the one I used previously. After factory resetting my Quest, I was able to connect to the 6Ghz WiFi as well as any other WiFi again.
