Quest 2 Controller Drift

Honored Guest

My son's handsets keep drifting. How can I stop this

If you Google "Quest Stick Drift" you'll come across a variety of suggestions from compressed air to module replacement, with the complexity of the task in direct relation to its long-term effectiveness.

Of course, if the controllers are still in warranty, you should log a ticket to have them replaced,

It depends on if you mean glitchy thumbstick values (which a lot of people call drifting) or drifting where the controllers float off into space away from your hands.

For the latter, there is most likely something confusing the visual tracking system. It could be damage to the cameras on the headset (scratches, smudges), damage to the controller tracking ring (there's invisible infrared lights on the ring. They can't be covered up), or bad lighting (too much light especially with infrared like outdoors could blind the cameras to the rather weak infrared lights on the controllers).
