Quest 2 Head Strap no longer charges with a cord connected or charges my Quest 2

As I truly enjoy my Quest 2 headset from a few years back for my two children and later on during last year, I bought a second set for my youngest son so they both could enjoy having one.  However, on my Steam Account from within Steam, I found that I could play the various VR games that I have aquired from within my account and after finding this out, I decided to buy the Quest 3 for my eldest son and flat out kept his older Quest 2.

With that being said though and with enough time passing, one of the Quest 2s "Elite Strap" stopped charging or giving of a charge that it may have had.  So basically, even with the Elite Strap connected, I have just the headset battery and the external battery isn't more than a dead weight.

I am thinking that the battery may be fine from within it as I can charge the Quest 2 from the supplied cord but I cannot charge the headset while plugged into the "Elite Strap" unit, even if the "Elite Strap" is also connected to the already functional power cord.

Basically, I did all that I could do and although the battery itself from within the "Elite Strap" is probably fine, I am willing to bet that either cord going into the exteral battery is 'stripped' or the one leaving it....therefore killing the link to offer any power at all into charging the system or to prevent a charge from going out.

Or, it could be a charging port on one of the two end, I do not have the tools to see which it is and I think the device may still be under warranty still so I would like to ask for help at this time.

Thank you,

Paul

Hey there,

It is never ideal when something we're accustomed to always using stops working seemingly out of nowhere.

Here are a few things which would be worth trying:

  1. Flip the orientation of the charging cable into the elite strap with battery
  2. Try another outlet
  3. Remove any unsupported third-party accessories that may affect battery charging or discharging (such as external battery packs, external fans, etc.)
  4. Disconnect the elite strap from the headset and try charging it on it's own
  5. Reset Elite strap- Press and hold the small button located at the back of the strap near the charging port for 15 seconds
  6. Make sure the elite strap with battery hasn't suffered any damages recently (drop, etc.)

If you are still encountering the same issue please do not hesitate to contact us directly so we can go through your warranty options with you. You can get in touch either by sending us a PM or via the link below.
