Hello,
I got the Quest 2 a three years ago and when I moved, it's been in it's box for a couple years after due to limited space in my studio apartment. I decided I really wanted to play some VR games and when I first loaded it up, it was having issues connecting to my Wifi. So I put it to the side for a bit to figure that out. Pretty sure I figured that and went to go solve that issue, I suddenly couldn't get past the "it's too dark, we lost tracking" notification. So I tried to skip it and every time I did, the world was "falling", and going right back to the "it's too dark". So I tried a factory reset (no loss tbh). And still, the "world" was "falling". I couldn't get past the set up. I waited until day time where I can open the windows and let even more light in and still, the world is always "falling" or too jittery. The controllers are bouncing around and unable to stay stable enough to click. I did another factory reset after a battery change and still, the same results.
I'm getting frustrated cause it was fine enough to let me make a boundary and attempt to connect to new wifi, but suddenly is completely unusable after trying to fix that and after factory reset. I can't exactly make my space any brighter and the space I created to be the play area is bigger then the area I created when I first got my VR and had 0 issues years ago.

Hey there, @BearyLynn. Jumping back into the VR world after taking a break is a great way to get back in the swing of things. We want you to be able to experience everything that VR has to offer and hope we can get you back in the game ASAP. With that being said, one of the things we can check first is to make sure that your headset is up-to-date by following the link we have shared here. By doing so, you can always make sure your headset is up-to-date with the latest software. Please let us know if this was helpful for you, as we hope to continue working together towards finding a solution for your issue. We hope to hear from you soon!

Good evening,
I just moved and now have a brighter, wider space. To answer, yes, the oculus is up to date. Or at the very least, claims that there is no update available. But still, when I turn on tracking to attempt to set up a boundary, tracking is lost and map starts falling. It's frustrating.
