New Quest 2. Purchased/installed 2 games yesterday to the Main/Admin acct. Sharing Enabled.
Was able to share to child/secondary account.
Today we purchased/installed Job Simulator (to main acct).
When we switched to secondary account and tried to launch
- it appeared to download again (using double the space?)
- when kid requests access, the "Review' button says "Allow and Purchase"... which worries me that we'll be buying a 2nd time??
Is this a technical glitch (ie. sharing not working), or just poor wording (ie. it should say "Allow".. the word purchase should have no relevance to sharing an already purchased app??)

Hi @ckdad.2023

No, it's not using double space on device.....It's just so that this account can have its own progress/points in the game.
- when kid requests access, the "Review' button says "Allow and Purchase"... which worries me that we'll be buying a 2nd time??
@johnny_royal found a solution for that here
You don't have to pay a second time.
I hope this will help🙂

Thanks.. that seems to work.. but wow.. what a poor User Interface experience... I do hope Meta plans to improve the flow.
So related question.. let's say with a "free" app... if *2* secondary accounts (on the same device) want to play the app, and (given the pain of the sharing UI) decide to EACH install (rather than share).. is the device smart enough to install/re-use only the 1 copy, or would it consume 2x the space?

I'm glad you got it work😀
To answer your question:
No, if an app is already installed on admin account - no matter if it's an free or purchased app - it does not take double space.

Actually I was trying to ask
- if secondary acct #1 installs an app
- and secondary acct #2 installs the same app
- (admin acct is not involved.. ie I tell the kids not to go thru this hassle on free apps)
is the storage duplicated?

I think i did not explain correctly.
Apps installed on second or third account never take extra space on the device if they already in admin account installed.

Agreed... but re-read my last question.. ADMIN acct NOT involved. I'm talking about two secondary accts installing the same app (and in theory a secondary acct cannot share to another secondary acct)

I'm not quite sure.....sorry.
I just would install them on admin account, so you can be sure it takes only space one time
