Quest 2 factory reset.

Sir, Madam, MS,

I recently had the misfortune to do a factory reset for my Quest 2.

After the reset and during the set-up procedure, I am being asked to log in to a work email address.

Given that I have been retired for nearly 25 years I find this not quite feasible. I have googled and tried to find a work around or anything to make my Quest 2 operable again but cannot make sense of any of it.

Could I please have a definitive and simple (due to age and feeble brain) process for restoration?

Further, I can find no earthly reason for this requirement (it certainly was not required with my initial purchase and set up) but if it is absolutely necessary, why is there not a simple expanation of how to do this.

Please end my three days of mind-altering frustration.

Regards

Tony

Please bear in mind that I have no cell phone reception here so sending sms to me as part of the process is not going to work.

Hey @tonychilcott! Thank you for reaching out to us. We would love to help you out with this issue. We understand that your device is prompting you to enter a work email when you do not have one. We want to get this fixed so that you can enjoy your device again. We want you to attempt to do another factory reset. Please make sure you have all your data backed up on the cloud here. After the cloud backup is done, please attempt to do the factory rest using the steps below.

To perform a factory reset using your phone:

  1. Open the Meta Quest app on your phone.
  2. Tap Menu then tap Devices.
  3. Tap the headset connected to your phone.
  4. Tap Headset Settings then tap Advanced Settings.
  5. Tap Factory Reset and then Reset.

To perform a factory reset using the headset:

  1. Turn off your headset.
  2. Hold the power and volume (-) button on your headset down simultaneously until the boot screen loads on your headset.
  3. Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Factory Reset and press the power button.
  4. Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Yes and press the power button.

We hope to hear from you soon!
