That is unless I go into USB update mode and leave it there. So this seems to be a software issue, which means I might have to factory reset. However, I would like to find an alternative solution to this problem. Does anyone know of a way to fix this? I already tried discharging the entire battery and then recharging the Quest 2, but that didn't work.
Thanks in advance

I just got my replacement OQ2 and it works perfectly and look awesome… they even included the stock strap, facial interface, and silicone sleeve (I only returned my OQ2 body like they requested)
my only problem is that I can’t get my air link to work… I’m not sure how to get the new headset hooked up… link cable connection works fine though, but Airlink doesn’t connect… any suggestions??
thx

Is it odd that the original Quest does not suffer from this? Or at least mine doesn't, just my Quest 2

I am also having this problem. I tried a factory reset and it still behaves the exact same. I don't know when it started as I haven't used it in a little while.

my son has the same issue i did a factory reset on it and it still does the same, he is on version 47. it will show green when we charge it in usb mode but when it turns on it will only show it at 55%

Yeah, I haven't found a fix. It seems that they know about the issue. I started a support ticket and they said they are going to do an exchange. Now I'm just waiting on a shipping label which they said can take 3 days. So far it's been easy dealing with their support. Person I spoke with was awesome, and I was expecting a nightmare.

Hey there CluelessDadGamer, we see you're having issues with your headset only charging about halfway. We understand how frustrating this can be, especially when it only charges in USB update mode. Nonetheless, we're here to help!
We also see you have already attempted some troubleshooting steps, to no avail, and want to avoid having to factory reset.
Please attempt to reboot your headset using the following directions:
With your headset on, hold the power button on the right side of your headset down until you're prompted with a shut-down screen.
Select Restart to reboot your Quest 2 or Quest.
If this does not resolve the issue, please submit a support ticket, reference this post, and we can review some solutions with you!

So...this is my experience with the charging debacle...My Quest 2 will also stop charging at 53% most of the time. I have discovered a method that seems to work, though it is unscientific. If the Quest stops charging at 53%, I change to either my Apple block with a USB to USB C cable, or my Belkin battery pack, or plug into my pc, or more recently, my Quest Pro Controller dock. One of these five usually causes it to reach 100%. Also, these are usually plugged into different receptacles, though prolly not always different circuits. I am determined to keep using this technique until it doesn't work anymore and I just have to keep it plugged into the battery pack while playing stand alone or into the pc. When the Quest 3 drops, I'll prolly kick this one to the curb but I'm not going without while waiting for a refurb.

My set is affected by this issue too.
It was initially stopping at 85% previously after overnight charging.
Disconnecting and reconnecting the charging cable will then charge it up to 100% after a while.
However, it now stops at 55% after overnight charging. Disconnecting and reconnecting no longer help.
Tested using USB power meters to confirm that it draws 1.39A upon reconnection and then it drops to 0.00A.
Left it disconnected for another night and upon reconnecting the next day, it charged up to 100%.
Perhaps this behavior might be due to some temperature threshold limit that the new firmwares are enforcing to extend battery lifespan which might be overly conservative?
