That is unless I go into USB update mode and leave it there. So this seems to be a software issue, which means I might have to factory reset. However, I would like to find an alternative solution to this problem. Does anyone know of a way to fix this? I already tried discharging the entire battery and then recharging the Quest 2, but that didn't work.
Thanks in advance

Yep. Bugged at v34. I ALWAYS completely power off the Quest 2 when charging. I always come back to a:
Elite Strap: 100%
Quest 2: 55%
Basically.. the Elite Strap cannot charge the Quest 2 past 55% (ish.. sometimes it is as high as 57%). Been using it successfully until a recent update. Getting ready to abandon VR.

Please advise if factory reset helped resolve the issue this long after. You mentioned three times.. how about now, 7 months after your post? I'd rather not factory reset as I've done a lot with Sidequest to get it all just right. However, it might be that I have to..

One thing I noticed about charging in USB mode.. gets super hot. Yeah, not safe I imagine.

I'm on version 40.. still happening

Gets wildly hot. Not really going to seriously try this again.

Same issue here. Stops at 55%. Only charges to 100% at the boot menu

I had to stop plugging my Quest 2 into the computer to charge. It flat out hasn't charged for the last 2 or 3 version updates if it's plugged into the computer. Which is mildly annoying since I've been using wired Link to play Elite Dangerous in VR a lot lately. Air Link seems a bit too unstable right now for playing games. It keeps dropping wifi connection.

So the suggested troubleshooting for this issue is to reboot the device?

I'm also having this issue, just factory reset and will see if it's starts charging back to 100%.

Hey @jcm2582, great question! the next best suggestion we could provide, @ThePixelCowboy has taken before we could ask.
You could test out a factory reset with the following steps:
Performing a factory reset will delete all headset content, and in-game data, to be started up as if brand new. Purchases previously made will still be linked to your Oculus account.
In regards to your in-game data. We do have an Oculus Cloud which developers can choose to opt-in and out of anytime. The developers can also choose exactly what they would like to be uploaded to the Cloud.
To find which of your downloaded apps are supported by Cloud Backup, as well as the last backup time and backup size:
Let us know if that does anything for you! 🙂
