Quest 2 not loading anything

I have had my Quest 2 for a couple of year now and frequently the headset refuses to load any of my installed apps.

I have always been able to solve this eventually by doing one or more of the things listed below but this time I give up. NOTHING works!

Whenever I try to launch an app either directly from Quest 2 or from oculus/meta quest/horizon-app or whatever its called this week the app splash screen displays for a few seconds and then nothing happens. 

Please advise how I get this "brilliant" headset to work again so that I can launch the apps that I paid for on the official store.

 

Steps I usually try when Quest 2 suddenly doesn't want to load my apps.

  • factory reset
  • firmware update
  • delete obscure windows C++ files
  • install obscure windows C++ files
  • unplugging and reconnecting cables
  • re-install the app(s)
  • re-install oculus software on my windows pc
  • re-install app on my smartphone

I have sent a message now after I had to log in twice to this site.

In case you want some feedback on that experience here is how it went:

First I logged in with my Facebook account which is linked to my Oculus account but apparently I can't write PM's on that account so I had to log in via another Oculus account that I'm not sure where originates from but that seems to unlock PM's. Not sure why its called Oculus since its also called Quest and then there is the Meta Horizon account which also seems to be connected to my Facebook account and/or my Oculus account. 

The UX on this is next level.
