Quest 2 not loading apps or games

A few minutes ago, I turned on my headset and attempted to open VRchat, after waiting very long it gave me an error message. "Oculus platform error during user proof check: read timed out"

After this happened, I tried to open the horizon feed, but it didn't load, so I checked the store, and that didn't work.

Then I tried to open a game through the mobile app, but it didn't work...

I searched in this get help board and tried everything I could, but nothing has worked so far. And now I'm here!

I am unsure if it is an issue on my side but please help.

Hey there, @hueyzz! We want to help get to the bottom of this error, so you can fully enjoy VRChat! We don't want to make you repeat any troubleshooting steps that you have already tried, so can you please provide us with a list of everything you did?

Additionally, please let us know the following information:

  • Are you using the headset while connected to a PC, or standalone only?
  • When did this start? Where there any changes made to your set up before the issue began?
  • Are you experiencing issues with any other applications? Or in the home environment?

We look forward to hearing back from you!

Im using standalone.

This started sometime yesterday, when I got on nothing was loading, so I updated and nothing happened then, I hard rebooted and attempted to open a game with the mobile app, none of these worked, I'm trying not too factory reset tho.

All online games gave me some sort of error message, but the store or as said the horizon feed and profile wouldn't load.

Thank you for providing us this information. Since you're seeing errors within all online applications, it may be worth exploring a potential issue with the network.

Can you please try reconnecting your devices to another network connection or hotspot with a stronger signal, to see if you experience the same issue?

  1. Turn on your Meta Quest and put on your headset.
  2. Select Settings from the bottom toolbar menu.
  3. Select Wi-Fi.
  4. Select the Wi-Fi network you would like to connect to.
  5. If prompted, enter the password for the Wi-Fi network you would like to connect to.
  6. Select Connect to connect to the Wi-Fi network.

Some other steps you can try would be:

  • Move closer to the router.
  • If you have a dual-band router, disable the dual-band feature to ensure the devices don't jump to different channels.
  • Ensure your network doesn't have a captive portal.
  • Ensure you're not using a mesh network.
  • Ensure no wireless extenders are being used.

Please let us know if any of this makes a difference. Thank you for working together with us!

I actually just tried both of these, the router stuff didn't work but I connected to my phone hotspot and some things loaded but other than that nothing.

One thing I found out, whenever I go to turn my oculus off it'll say it needs a update, then it says it updates then immediately turns off. When I turned it, it says it still needs that update, when I go to the software update settings  it endlessly loads, even with the hotspot on it didn't.

Thank you also for your help!!! Hopefully you can help me further.

Thank you for the update! Let's try something else:

  • Log out of the account and back in. Sometimes the account login can be "Invalidated," and cause issues with accessing library content or performing other tasks such as updating.
    1. Hold the power button down until the shutdown options appear.
    2. Power off the headset. Do a full shutdown, not just a restart.
    3. Log out of the Meta Horizon mobile app.
    4. Restart the mobile phone.
    5. Log in to the Meta Horizon mobile app.
    6. Power the headset back on.

If this doesn't work, Can you please let us know what other error messages you were seeing in the other apps? For clues on what could be causing this.

Okay so I factory reset it, so when I get to the part to connect my internet, it tells me I have no connection and says to get closer to my router, I did and still nothing, I connected it to my phone hotspot and still telling me no internet, I connect it to another one and still doesn't work. I also changed my password, and logged out of the meta app, it did nothing to the headset. Im not sure what more to do.
