When I try to record on my Quest 2 it records mic audio fine but there’s no game audio. Anyone know why it’s doing this and how I could fix this?

Hey everyone, I'm just checking in to say this should hopefully be resolved by now.🤗

If you're still having some trouble, I'd recommend reaching out to @MetaQuestSupport through PM for them to look into some other potential options to give a shot.

Along with that, I would also suggest submitting a bug report to the team.

Hey everyone! Just letting you know that I'll be locking this thread since the original post could have a different root cause than anything recent.

If you're currently having issues hearing your game audio when recording, I'd highly suggest checking out this thread here. That will be where updates are provided by one of my colleagues.

Thanks again!

Hi there @XykronGamer250, being unable to record in-game audio is not the experience we want for you. We understand how important being able to recording content correctly, and we would love to assist you all that we can on this matter!

Seeing as your mic works fine capturing outside audio, but not in-game, let's try to troubleshoot this for you. Can you please review the following:

  • Hard reboot the headset.
    1. Turn off your headset completely.
    2. Hold the power and volume (-) button on your headset down simultaneously until the boot screen loads on your headset.
    3. Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Boot Device and press the power button.
    4. Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Yes and press the power button.
  • Ensure the volume is not muted or turned down too low.
  • Test with multiple games/apps.
  • Check app settings.
  • Reset Microphone.
    • Settings > System > Sound > Toggle Microphone

Please let us know how this goes. We'll be waiting with some more troubleshooting if you need it.

It didn’t fix my problem. The game audio still doesn’t get recorded.

Thanks for getting back to us. We'd like to ask a couple of questions so we can get a better understanding of your problem.

  • Are you attempting to record using our built in feature on the standalone headset? Meaning you aren't connected to a computer at all.
  • Are you not hearing any gameplay audio even when you are in the main menu and moving around?
  • Are you sure your volume is all the way up when you attempting to hear back the recording?
  • Are you not able to hear any gameplay audio in multiple games or is it just one?

Yes, I am recording using the built in recording. Audio works fine outside of recording but when I check the recording the audio doesn’t play. My volume is all the way up when I check the recording and still nothing, and I’ve tried multiple games but it doesn’t work.

Thanks for answering our questions. We'd like for you to make sure you have Cloud Backup enabled on your headset. After that, please follow through with a Factory Reset on your headset.

Is this normal native games, or web based games?  There does seem to be an issue with recording the audio from the browser that I and others experience, it's been suggested this might be by design yet I know I've managed to record Moonrider a few weeks back.

Same issue here, I was trying to record some BoneLab gameplay but there is no game audio, the thing is at the end of the recording when i get out of the game to stop the recording, I can clearly hear the sounds from the Quest 2's menus, so not sure what the problem is honestly
