Does anyone know if the quest 2 or 3 supplys enough power for the dt770's to sound loud enough? I just haven't really seen people ask about the headphone jack output.

I'm not an expert but I believe the Quest is designed to output to typical earphones which have an impedance of up to 32 ohms, same as a smartphone.
It looks like the Beyerdynamic DT770's have 3 versions, 32, 80 & 250 ohms. You're probably not going to get much volume out of the 80 ohm ones and next to no sound out of the 250 ohms. The 32 ohm units should be ok.

Thank you for answering, this is the only answer I've found, so if I might need to get a mini amp if I the 80 ohms version then.

Yeah I think it's a safe bet you'd need a mini amp for those. If you do decide to get a Quest 3, I guess you'd try the headphones first before buying an amp, just to be sure. On the plus side, a little rechargeable amp clipped to the back of the standard Quest head strap could improve the balance. Might be awkward though if you decided to get an elite/halo type strap.
For the price of the amp, are there no cheaper headphones you'd consider? Those DT770's are nice though!

would you by any chance know the power output of the quest headphone jack? i heard thats you need to know too when buying an amp

Before I give you any rubbish info, I've got a pair of Roland RH200's which are 65 ohms so not way off from yours. Let me try them with my Quest 2 and 3, see how loud they are.

OK well I'm surprised, the RH200's were loud enough for me on the Quest 2 with the volume at about 95% (13th bar out of 14), with the Quest 3 they were about right at 90% (12th bar).
I was expecting quieter, so I may have been wrong and your 80 ohm headphones could be ok, or at least not overly quiet at 100%.
At this point it may be better if other people helped out and said what headphones they use, their impedance, and how they find the volume level. There's no doubt more to volume than headphone impedance alone!
As far as the mini amps go, the ones I looked at really just stated the range of headphone impedances they catered for and made claims that they're suitable for all portable devices as their input. I have no figure for the Quest power output I'm afraid... someone from Meta would have to divulge that info!
Edit: yeah, sensitivity is he important figure, that should really dictate how loud they are for any given supply. My RH200's are 100dB/mW, your DT770/80s are 96.3dB/mW. If this is true, I'm going to say they don't need an amp and you'd be ok with a Quest 2 at 100% volume and a Quest 3 at 95% volume.
This is definitely no guarantee. We need more headphone specs and experiences please 🙂
