Quest 2 - speaker problem (audio crackles on left side)

Hello.

I have recieved brand new Quest 2 (replaced by reporting a different issue). Now all previous problems are gone, but there is new one - audio crackles/pops on left speaker when there is "bass sounds" - heareable when playing some games, watching YouTube etc. even on medium loudness set. Speaker on the right side doesn't have this problem.

How you can help me with this problem? Sending back and waiting for new equipment does not seem to be a good solution, because I am not sure if it will come with another, different defect.

You'll need to contact Oculus directly, they won't respond to support requests on the forum. I've had perhaps the same issue but slightly different symptoms (mine happens almost 100% of the time and doesn't depend on volume level) documented here: https://forums.oculusvr.com/community/discussion/94186/quest-2-speaker-issue

Anyway, both look like speaker hardware failure.

Out of interest, what was your issue with the other unit?

Hi,

Yes, it looks like very similar problem. It is interesting that there is something wrong only with left speaker.

You are right, i need to contact to oculus directly.. especially i caught another defect with my Q2. I have one bad pixel at front of right eye (little above oculus logo when starting headset). It is visible on dark scenes, because it is bright green.

My previous headset had scratch on lens. Aaand now i noticed the fan was making a crunchy noise. (On new Q2 it is just silent)

Has any one gotten a resolution on their support ticket for this problem yet? I've got the same issues. First the right speaker would crackle, then it died completely. Brand new, right out of the box!

Support has had my ticket for 3 business day (they said it could take 5-7), but I'm just curious if anyone has had this problem resolved. I'm assuming I'll have to send it back for a replacement.

@Roliwage
I tracked my issue here: https://forums.oculusvr.com/community/discussion/comment/775897#Comment_775897
It took them nearly a month to tell me what I already suspected, that it was a hardware fault.
If one speaker is behaving differently to the other then it's almost certainly a hardware fault. I did a factory restore and it still did it, that pretty much convinced me it was hardware. I would say if you don't get a resolution in the first one or two responses then just return it to your retailer.

Thanks Oliver! I may just do what you did - order a new one and send this one back.

Is there a benefit to ordering at Oculus?. I got mine from Best Buy and I can return it super easily with the extended warranty.

Can't think there is. In fact it's probably a distinct disadvantage to buy direct from Oculus.

I now have the same problem with cracking on the left speaker. I got mine over a year ago on Amazon. I doubt they will exchange it at this point. Does anyone know if this can be fixed?
