Quest 2 turning off and on while charging.

My quest 2 has started turning on and then off every 5 seconds while charging(the battery is dead). I saw some suggestions to just keep it plugged in for a few hours to see if it eventually stops and just charges but this didn’t happen. I went to check on the progress and now when it is powered on for that small amount of time, it looks like the screen is tearing. There’s no blemish or issue with the lens itself but the tearing remains in the same places (there are three in a row) when powered on. This just started today. Please help! I love my VR!!!

Hey there, @CurseOfRogue! We definitely want for you to be able to enjoy your time in VR, and that is hard to do if your headset will not stay powered on! We would recommend trying the following:

  1. Attempt to charge the headset for 2 hours from a known working wall outlet. The headset must be left powered off or in a sleep state during this time.

  2. Try a different Cable/Charger; if possible, test the cable and charger (adapter) separately to determine the faulty component.

  3. Charge the headset without the facial interface or any third party accessories attached. These may block the proximity sensor which can impact the power of the headset.

  4. Hard Reboot the headset:
    1. Hold down the power button and volume down button for 30 seconds until you hear the boot-up sound
    2. If the boot-up sound is not heard, enter the USB Update Mode and select "Boot Device"

  5. Factory Reset the headset

Hopefully these get everything working for you once again!

Hello, I did a hard reboot and a known charger and it worked however the tear or rip in the eyepiece is still there. How can I fix that?

Hi again, @CurseOfRogue

Oh no! This doesn't sound ideal.

We're eager to find a resolution to this display issue and get you back to gaming as soon as we can. To help us review possible solutions, kindly answer the following questions:

  • Has your device sustained any damages, such as water damage or being dropped?
  • Does the screen tear occur immediately or after playing for a while?
  • Does the issue occur all the time or just in certain games/apps?
  • Is the tear visible in both eyes or only on one side?

We look forward to hearing from you!

Sorry about the delay.
No it has not sustained any damages. No water, no direct sunlight and it has not been dropped.

The tear is constant. When it’s powered on to when it shuts off. The tear is different in either eye when you close one eye or another. For example, when I’m only looking through my left eye, I see two tears that are like dots, when I open only my right eye, the tear is bigger and has not just black but white and orange around it. When my eyes are both open they look like they are in a line across the screen.

This happened immediately after that odd charging incident by the way
