Quest 2 won’t charge or power on

So like the title says, I’m unable to charge or turn on my quest 2. When I try to turn it on whilst plugged in the oculus logo flashes for a brief second.

I’ve tried leaving it plugged in for 2 hours +
I’ve tried using a different outlet
I’ve tried charging it with an Apple Wall Brick + Switch USB-C cable
I’ve tried pressing and holding the power + volume down button

I’ve contacted support and all they can offer is for me to buy a new unit.

Does anyone have any further suggestion on what I can do?

I bought this a few years ago as a gift for my sister, she doesn’t use it often so it’s in pretty new condition. Probably used less than a dozen times lmao

I was just now had this problem a minute ago, I fixed it by trying to turn it on while it was charging. It did show it was low despite being charged overnight

Hello @Bananahenny! thank you so much for reaching out to us regarding your quest 2 not being able to charge or turn on. We would love to help with this and we are sure you must be eager to get back into enjoying VR! Let's go ahead and start out with some basic troubleshooting and things to consider when trying to charge the headset.

  1. Attempt to charge the headset for 2 hours. The headset must be left powered off or in a sleep state during this time.
    • If trying to charge from a computer, take note of the following:
      • Computers typically provide less power than outlets and may require more time to charge.
      • If the customer is using an adapter, the port type being used may provide even less power than the USB-C port that is typically used for charging and Link cables.
      • Computers may also stop charging peripherals if the peripheral is completely powered off (causing the computer to not recognize the presence of the device), or if the computer itself goes into a sleep state. This is defendant on the port, motherboard, BIOS settings (not all of which may be visible in every BIOS) and USB power settings. BIOS settings vary greatly between computer models, so we cannot provide assistance with these.
      • While in use, the headset will typically consume more power than the computer port can provide, resulting in the battery charge decreasing over time. The headset must be off or in a low power (sleep) state to charge.
  2. Try a different Cable/Charger; if possible, test the cable and charger (adapter) separately to determine the faulty component.
    • If a known good Cable or Charger resolves the issue, no further troubleshooting is required. Check the Warranty Guidelines for warranty coverage on the accessory
  3. Charge the headset without the facial interface. Some facial interfaces may block the proximity sensor, which can impact the power of the headset.
  4. Are you using the Elite Strap with Battery or any third-party accessories that may affect battery charging or consume power (such as external battery packs, external fans, etc.) If so, have them disconnect the Elite Strap with Battery or any third-party accessories and try charging the headset again.
  5. Try charging from a different source (another PC or a different wall outlet).
  6. Have you spilled liquids on the headset.
  7. Hard Reboot the headset
    1. Hold down the power button and volume down button for 30 seconds until you hear the boot-up sound
    2. If the boot-up sound is not heard, enter the USB Update Mode and select "Boot Device"
  8. Factory reset
  9. If the headset will still not charge after completing the above steps please let us know so we can further assist.

We look forward to hearing from you!
