Quest 3/ Air Link stopped working/ No connection to PC/ PC found but Start Button is greyed out...

Playsianer

I've been using the Quest 3 for almost 8 months now, and before i used the Quest 2 without any problems via Air link/same router/same PC...

This Saturday I'm playing Borderland 2 VR and on Monday the Quest 3 can no longer connect to the PC without any reason.

If I want to activate Air Link via the Q3, my PC is displayed in the Air Link Menü as before, but the Start Button for Air Link remains gray and it says "not connected".

I've already tried everything:Hard reseting the Headset, factory reset, router reset, PC & Quest 3 reset, Meta Quest Link restart via the beta menu in the PC Oculus APP, repair function of the Meta Quest APP, firewall completely switched off but nothing...

Then I read that you should completely delete the Oculus software with all folders and reinstall it.
I did that and lo and behold it worked, for exactly ONE day....

When I booted up my PC today and started Quest 3, the same problem...
The PC is displayed but the start button to start Air Link remains gray and it is not connected.
WHY?
Do I have to completely uninstall the software every time, including all folders, then reinstall it in order to be able to play via Air link for exactly ONE day, which has worked for over 3 years before (Quest 1, Quest 2, Quest 3) without any problems?

The connection works immediately using the original Meta Quest Link cable.
Virtual Desktop APP works also...

PLEASE Help!

Hi, I think I have the same problem and look where am I now. I am a stable experienced everyday Quest user. Several days ago my Quest 3 stopped connecting to my PC Link app, I tried to reboot the PC Link app, headset and PC several times, but this didn't work. So I decided to factory reset my headset (used to do it already) and made it using Power and Lower Volume buttons. So now I have fresh headset, and after connecting to WiFi it gives me that forever message for hours and hours: "Updating to latest software: Estimating time left..." I already did factory reset several times, connecting to different wifi networks, but picture is the same - "Updating to latest software: Estimating time left..." without any changes for many hours. And yes, the headset is plugged in and charging. Need solution, I am very disapppointed now.

The recent update did not address the reconnection issue and seems to have altered how Air Link handles trust certificates. Initially, pairing works fine, but after rebooting the headset, it fails to reconnect without re-pairing. This suggests that trust certificates or pairing information might be stored in a different location than where the headset looks for them upon reboot. This misalignment disrupts the reconnection process, requiring re-pairing every time.

Here are my current software details:
- **Version:** 66.0.0.660.370.608997113
- **Runtime Version:** 66.0.0.660.370.608996994
- **OS Version:** SQ3A.220605.009.A1

**Problem Overview:**
1. **Initial Pairing:** Works without issues.
2. **Post-Reboot:** The headset fails to reconnect without re-pairing.
3. **Possible Cause:** Trust certificates or pairing data are stored in a different location than where the system looks for them after a reboot, causing a misalignment.

**Recommendation for Meta Developers:**
Investigate the storage and retrieval locations of trust certificates and pairing information post-update. Ensuring consistency in how and where this data is stored and accessed after a reboot may resolve the issue. Additionally, examining the differences between Air Link's and Steam Link's handling of such processes could provide useful insights.

I'm on Quest 2 v65 and have the exact same problem for the last week or so. I have to go into settings to disable air link, re-enable air link and then pair it with my pc every single time I boot up the headset. Worked perfectly fine until recently. Have tried reinstalling everything but has made no difference. Has to be a bug with v65 onwards surely.

Personally its a waste of time even reporting this, Seems like meta dont even aknowledge that anything is even being done. The problem is what I said it was, its got to do with the Trust Certificates, upon reboot of your headset, its no longer paired because it cant register that the trust certificates are in the place they should be.

Personally, I think the more people post the same problem here, the greater the chance that it will not take months until the problem is solved...

I hope people also post all their logs and bug reports via their Quest bug report menu.

Same issue here. Using Quest 3 on ver 65.0.0.546.341.596219110.

The workaround to open settings menu, disable quest link, enable quest link, confirm pin works but is tedious to do all the time.

I do VR dev in Unity and use Airlink every day for work. Airlink used to pop up just fine and alert me that my desktop was available until this week.

Hello everyone I just got word from engineering that they have rolled out a fix for this issue!

If you are experiencing a grayed out button when attempting to launch Air Link or Link, please follow these troubleshooting steps: Put on the Meta Quest headset. Go to "Settings" then select "System". Scroll down to find "Quest Link" and toggle it off, then back on again. Try launching Air Link or Link again.

If the issue persists after following these steps, please try restarting your computer and headset before trying again.

Please do not hesitate to come back to the thread and let us know if you're still experiencing this issue going forward!

Update 6/13/24

Hey everyone, just wanted to give you all a quick update. I've informed the engineers that even after a few hours, we still have several users experiencing the same issue. If you haven't already, please make sure to submit your bug reports

Update 6/26/24

With the launch of V66, a fix was issued that will roll out to everyone soon. Please check your headset system settings to ensure you are on the latest update. As always, please come back and let us know if you are still experiencing this issue after the update.

The future of home entertainment!

nothing new its still the same for me on quest 3 !!!

i have to re pair in order to connect to airlink and wifi 6ghz not showing also

my meta quest pro on v64 is working flawlessly  !!!!

Sounds like engineering didn't do anything if I'm still performing the same steps as a workaround.

every time I turn on my headset I have to pair it again and i have no idea how to fix it I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app
