Quest 3 Controllers are not aligned in game?

  • I’ve noticed that in a lot of games, (banter, bigscreen, pavlov, breachers) the hands don’t line up with where my controllers are pointing, instead they point outwards. This is not an issue with the quests menu ui, they line up fine when im navigating quest menus. It is in game where this appears.

Uhh, already done that my man. Customer support replaced my kit with a brand new kit and guess what? SAME EXACT THING. This needs a software update to fix this. It's not hardware.

If they want to send me a replacement unit free of charge and i keep both then I'll test and compare but as you say otherwise it is a pain in my ass for no reason. They built it wrong and apparently people generally don't notice or don't care. It's not ok. It's really annoying.

Agreed, especially playing Mercenary level in Onward where you start off with only a pistol and no other weapon. You constantly need to adjust pistol to point inwards, or shoot and adjust as firing (not mention the original issues off rifle alignment with gun stocks).

This is a joke, right? You are not really telling us to get our hardwarev replaced although there is no hardware issue? Will I get a replacement to a brand new device for free?

Tell us the truth here, visible for all, no "contact the customer service to get more info" bull**bleep**.

I came across this thread last year when I was having the same issues as OP - I just assumed it was because my Q2 stock wouldn't work with a Q3, so I waited for Q3 stocks to become more readily available and cheaper, fast forward 6 months and I've just recieved my new Q3 stock, guess what? Same exact issue, so I come back here and I see this thread again, but this time there is 10 pages of people with the exact same issue, it's nice to know I'm not alone. Disappointed with the official responses on this thread, here is a clear as day side to side image of what the issue is, same exact stock, different controllers, sort it out meta.

Great example.  I have given up on Meta fixing these issues.  I haven't touched my Q3 since December, and it just depresses me to look at it.  Seems like it would be such an easy fix to make thier customers happy.  Even a workaround until it was resolved permanently.  Even a response that isn't auto generated.  Can't seem to even get that.  There might be a disconnect between these forums and engineering and they either aren't hearing about the issue, or they don't care.  I believe it's the latter.

I submitted a bug report with photos as requested.

Its really disheartening though. I have received replies from multiple different CS agents via email and they are all different. Something like this:

1. What seems to be the problem?

2. I have reviewed the problem lets start the process to get a replacement headset

3. what seems to be the problem?

4. Maybe the next update will fix it randomly!

5. The headset is functional, no replacement is available.

6. what seems to be the problem?

7. Wait for the next update, maybe that will work

Hey

How did you do this?

"I used Open XR settings to apply a -15 degree rotation correction in PCVR to get my Quest 3 controllers to feel and align naturally like my Quest 2 controllers do. "

Open XR is intimidating for the average person and they can mess their settings up if they aren't sure about what they are doing.   I have heard a few people say this is what they did to correct it until meta does something.  The consumers shouldn't have to do this either.  It's unbelievable the lack of response with meta.  It's not just this issue.  There are major tracking issues too that aren't getting resolved or they can't resolve.  I'm sure the list goes on forever if the department is anything like the moderation and official responses on this forum.

Yeah, I do not know how or why meta, oculus, has not discovered this on their own and fixed it. It has to be affecting headset sales and game sales. I know quite a few people who returned their quest 3s because of exactly this, and have seen many more talk about doing so on forums. They are ruining the next generation of vr headsets. The quest 3. People like their shooters. It’s about half the games player bases out there. Or more. The day they phase out the quest 2, they are going to lose a large part of the game player bases, and it will cost them a lot of money when games start dying because of it. They need to fix this now. Multibillion dollar company, with a lot invested in this. It is in their best interest to get this done. Here is just one of many thousands of social media posters about exactly this.  https://www.reddit.com/r/OculusQuest/comments/17thlhl/quest_3_handcontroller_alignment_is_off/
