Quest 3 Controllers are not aligned in game?

  • I’ve noticed that in a lot of games, (banter, bigscreen, pavlov, breachers) the hands don’t line up with where my controllers are pointing, instead they point outwards. This is not an issue with the quests menu ui, they line up fine when im navigating quest menus. It is in game where this appears.

Yep, just filed a bug report about it earlier myself.
Hopped on my Q3 yesterday for the first time in a while, and the controllers pointer was off by a glaring amount. Tried to play Into the Radius 2 for a bit but ended up giving up after an hour of trying to get used to the pointer being off. The whole Hold A/X and press Quest/Home 5 times didn't work at all. and the controller still had the pointer issue after taking the battery out for a couple minutes. Probably gonna keep trying to see if there's anything I can do with it, or if I can get used to having my wrists canted inward.

Perfect demonstration of the issue. Thank you. Yesterday I've played for the first time Alyx on Q3, and it as a pain to aim like that. I hope they add an option to change a preset orientation and one to completely customize it.

I was thinking to buy SuperHotVR in the Meta store, but maybe it's better to buy it from Steam so I can somehow workaround this.

Nearly a year since OP.

Still hoping for manual calibration, I would include the headset as well.

i noticed this too on the quest 3 instantly and its very annoying. give us a way to modify the pointing direction, its too much to the right currently.

This has been an issue since MQ3 Launch. How is it so hard to make these controllers point straight. It has destroyed my wrist, and I am discontinuing the use of the Quest 3 until this can be patched. This is now an ergonomic issue and I am recommending alternate headsets to members of my community now. This issue is over a year old now. Get you Sh*t together meta.

It’s not an issue with the controllers, it’s an issue with the software. That meta doesn’t seem to want to fix. It should take a programmer less than a day to fix it. Instead I have been hearing reports of injuries because of it. The angle is steep enough people are having problems.

Then please escalate this issue with the controller alignment being off compared to the quest 2. I have for awhile now been reading reports by people on social media about how the extreme angle is causing injuries. And have seen an uptick of reports recently in a lot of Facebook groups. It could affect Christmas sales. We would prefer that more people bought them, less people were hurt, so the market can thrive. It is a simple fix if you have any interest in protecting all of your jobs.

Out of interest. Anyone got a quest 3s and having the same problem? Surely Meta would of fixed the alignment issue before releasing the Q3s, but I’m guess no.

I was thinking of buying a Q3s for my partner but like many other people, I’m holding off from buying until I know there is a solution for the Q3 alignment issue. She currently uses the Q2 and plays games that will be impacted by the controller alignment issue if she moves to a Q3.

Please don't spend hundreds more on new hard when this can be fixed at the software level as proven by the few devs with a yaw offset on their games. I have pinched a radial nerve as a result of trying to use the quest 3 in its current state. I don't even feel right selling my quest 3 just so it can hurt someone else. This thing is an ergonomic nightmare in the current state but Meta form my money so they don't care what happens to me now. Look at the length of this thread and ask if a competent company would allow this. $1.9 billion in annual profit but no money for a 15 degree offset to prevent nerve damage.

Someone with injuries should start suing Meta for this, maybe this will work as they are clearly interested in their cutomers money only. What a shame.
