I have been experiencing an issue with my brand new Meta Quest 3's microphone for a few months now. The microphone itself works well during recording using the built in Quest recorder, but it sounds very bad in social games like Rec Room (I even have videos of me originally speaking and the outcome using the game's holotar option.) The mic sounds very bass boosted, and it's quiet when I speak loudly, but decides to bass boost and volume boost my voice when I'm breathing quietly and whispering.
Because I have seen some information needed from an old thread, I'll provide it:
What device are you using? Meta Quest 3
Are you using the PTC build? No
How consistent is this happening? Every time
What Software Version is your Meta Quest Mobile App? Fully updated, I'm using an iPhone
What Software Version is your Meta Quest Headset? Fully updated too, using the public updates, not the beta updates
Are you mostly seeing this with Link, Air Link and Standalone? Standalone
Does it only happen in specific apps and if so, which apps? Rec Room
Are you using any accessories with your Quest 3 that might cover parts of the headset like custom straps or anything that might cover the microphones? Not at all
Please share recordings of the mic quality, if possible! Attached below
Yes, I have already contacted Meta Support but it seems like they can't do anything about it except give me an option to return and wait 2-4 weeks for the new headset to arrive (which of course isn't an option for me because I create VR content)
Also, I know that I am not the only one experiencing this issue because I was playing Rec Room yesterday night and someone had the exact same mic quality as me. I asked them what headset they're using and they said the Meta Quest 3
