(Quest 3)Just mentioning mg Pcvr experience with 5ghz

Just felt like writing this for future generations or router shoppers, and to chronologically archive my efforts.

I am using a tenda rx2 pro wifi6 1500 (1200 5ghz mbs) router. Connected using the ethernet cable.

Using the newest 71 update recently and the firmware on the router is up to date(2024 april-may)

I have Legion 5 laptop from 2020 with 1660 ti nvidia gpu.

What I concluded after reading online(and 5ghz issue thread i saw here) and using my quest for a month and half, that the 80/40/20mhz 5 ghz AX band channel ON THIS ROUTER is very choppy, confirmed it with the virtual desktop and steam performance graph.

No matter how close I am to the router, or how long I play on it, there is sudden 1 ms stutters and the network delay jumps up randomly in spikes. Like lost packets or blocks.

I tried to confirm that it is not my quest 3 by using the 5 ghz hotspot from my laptop and it is stable, but the bandwidth is 20 mhz so not usable much.

Also used the 2.4 ghz 40mhz band on the same router and it is perfect and rock solid. And I even noticed lesser delay and smother gameplay than when using 5ghz AX.

I wasted a month on this while considering to get a wire connection, but seems like for now I will be using 2.4 ghz.

(The tenda router rx2 pro admin page is limited, there is no mention of a QoS option anywhere for me to change. And trying to disable the 2.4ghz to test if it will get better, i found out i can only hide it from the mobile App!? )

No option for openwrt or DD-wrt firmware for extra options on the router page.

What do you guys think?
