Quest 3 Left controller wont update

chuckypow
Explorer

It was working fine and then stopped. It tried to do a firmware update and it will make it to 66% and then reset, does this 3 times and then fails. Tried all of the “fixes” I.e. unpair, factory reset, batteries, but it will not work. Any other solutions??

Mine is also not working, just gets the blinking SOS LED light.   I'm an idiot because I did a factory reset now I can't even get into the main menu.

Hi there, @chuckypow and @Ihiryu1! We certainly don't want this to continue pulling our users away from the virtual world, so we appreciate you both bringing that Quest 3 controller issue to our attention! To start, are you able to let us know if the controller is not powering on at all, or is it disconnecting randomly @chuckypow? If it is temporarily losing power or restarting, this may be the result of the battery output diminishing with use so that the battery is not providing its full power output potential. This diminishing output effect varies across different battery brands, so we highly recommend that they try a different brand of battery in the controller. Aside from that, please test out the following if you haven't already, and let us know if anything changes:

  • Manually factory reset your controller:
    • Use the correct button combination to start the factory reset process.
      • Right: Hold the A button and tap the Home (Meta logo) button 5 times.
      • Left: Hold the X button and tap the Menu button 5 times.
    • The LED will blink orange/white while the factory reset is being performed.
    • The LED will then change to light-blue during boot.
    • Controllers can be used again as normal once boot completes.
  • Unpair and pair your controller once more.
  • Make sure your headset is completely up to date
  • Reboot your headset.

Nothing worked. It is still a dead controller. Getting extremely aggravated with this!

Hi again, thank you for your ongoing patience. We have a few more questions to get a better understanding of what may be causing your issue with your controller:

  •  Is your controller showing a light at all? If so, is the light blinking, or solid?
  • Have you tried replacing your current batteries with a well-known name brand battery? If not, please attempt so that we can rule this option out.
  • Were you able to successfully unpair and pair the controllers to the Quest 3?
  • After attempting the provided troubleshooting steps, are you experiencing any issues with the right controller or just the left controller?

Please answer these questions and provide as much detail as possible so that we may continue to assist you.

Have tried different Energizer batteries, new and rechargeable. Left controller is the one not working. It has a flashing white light. It will not pair, no problem with the right controller at all.

I think it was something to do with the firmware update it had to do. Was working until that.
