I've been playing VRChat both times when this happened. The first was with Quest link by link cable thru SteamVR. The second time is using it as in standalone. I had to go thru Settings and Sound to uncheck the Mute Microphone toggle. I didn't check the toggle, and it happens without warning. Another friend has this issue, but uses Standalone VRChat.

I've experienced this with Gorilla Tag on standalone Quest 3 as well.

I've been having a similar issue recently with Quest 2.
I use Quest Link with USB cable and SteamVR.
Normally microphone mutes only if I remove my headset, which is something I want.
But recently every time I open Oculus Dash (right system button) or SteamVR (left system button), microphone gets muted, so I'm not able to speak to people while peeking settings or desktop. Microphone gets unmuted when I return to game. I guess there must be a setting for this, but I'm not able to find it in Windows 11, SteamVR, or Oculus app (v57) settings.

Hey there everyone! Just checking in to see if you are all still having mic issues?

Yeah, we are still having this issue with firmware version 57.

Yes I am & so are many others. In all the online games people are complaining about it. It’s to the point we’re I’m annoying people all the time, asking if they can hear me. I just can’t trust the headset anymore to not repeatedly keep muting. It’s almost every time you take the headset off. Even for a few seconds. It’s when you first start the headset or sometimes starting a new game. This is all native quest muting & is only fixed by constantly going into quest audio settings & toggling the mute which is never shown as off, but it is off. This needs a firmware patch immediately as so many people are frustrated. It’s supposedly happening on the quest 2 as well, but for me it’s the quest 3.

It was the v57 firmware when this started for me. I never had the problem before then. I wish I could roll back as this is driving me nuts!

Hi Alice, I played all weekend & had no issues. Did meta do firmware patch in the past week? I’m glad it isn’t happening anymore as that was driving me crazy.
