Quest 3 Type-C Charging and Data Transfer Issues — Possible Repair?

Hello,

I'm experiencing some issues with my Meta Quest 3 related to the Type-C port.

• Issue Description: The device cannot charge or transfer data using a Type-C cable.

• Troubleshooting Steps:

  • I purchased a Meta Quest 3 Charging Dock and tried using the included charging cable, but the issue remains.

  • When using regular Type-C cables, I often get a message saying "Please use the original charging cable and adapter" and experience slow charging or a charging delay notification.

  • However, using a cable without data transfer functionality or one with more pins seems to allow charging, though the warning message still appears.

• Device Information: I bought the device from eBay, and it was in perfect condition when I received it. The issue was caused by my own misuse.

• Warranty Status: The device is out of warranty by one month. I would like to know if it is still eligible for official repair services.

To address a few of your points, we cannot cover any warranty if a device is bought from an unauthorized or 3rd party retailer.

We would also recommend removing the 3rd party head strap and trying this, as these can sometimes interfere with the charging or data transfer if it is a head strap with an extra battery!
