Quest 3 USB 3.2 2x2 Not Detecting But Charging

AgentJeffy

Can not get Oculus app to detect Quest 3 when connected via a USB 3.2 2x2 C port. It will charge however. I have verified this cable works by connecting my phone to the computer using the same cable and port and it will charge and allow data transfer.

Moved this cable and Quest 3 to a front IO USB C port and it is detected there at a lower speed than the 3.2 2x2 would be of course. So there has to be some internal setting on the Quest 3 that is not allowing it to connect and work with this port.

Anyone have experience with this?

Yes, I have the same exact issue. Front USB 3.2 Gen 1 works fine, but when I connect Q3 into the back port that is USB 3.2 Gen 2x2, it will not detect the headset no matter what I do. I tried different cables, even the official one, but nothing. Other devices connect just fine through this port. I also updated BIOS and intel fw, but no luck.

I am not that concerned about the bandwidth, it's just annoying to have the link cable stick out from the front I/O.

Hey @fieldflashfilda, we see that you're having trouble with connecting the Quest 3 with your PC, It's understandable how this can be a stressful situation. If you can provide us with your current PC specs we can look into this issue for you further. Look forward to hearing from you!

I'm using Asus TUF GAMING Z590-PLUS with 1801 bios on win 10, 10850K, RTX3080.

I tried connecting with the cable that's included w/ headset, then with 3.2 Gen 2 100W cable and lastly with Oculus Link cable. None of them will connect through the back port, all of them connect through the front port.

Hello @fieldflashfilda, it sounds like the cables are connecting as should which is from the back which is the USB 3 port. We see this issue often no worries there isn't a problem. You're definitely doing everything correctly, that's just the proper way the cable should go into the port which is through the back. If you have any more issues, please reach out to us. We're more than happy to help!

I'm sorry but I don't understand... What do you mean there isn't a problem? When I connect the headset through the back USB-C 3 port, Oculus software is going to show "Not connected". If I connect it with the same cable through the front USB-C 3 port it detects the headset immediately.

Hey @fieldflashfilda, so the back port (USB 3.2 2x2) is only meant for the elite strap with battery, so this will not be compatible with PCVR. The only port to use PCVR will be the front port that's on the headset.

If you have anymore questions or concerns, please let us know. We're happy that we could clear this up for you.

I had a similar problem pairing Quest Link via usb-c cable. I tried two Thunderbolt ports and one USB-C on the motherboard's front. None of them worked. Finally, I solved it by pairing wirelessly and switching to a cable connection. After that, all USB ports started to work fine. It looks like a bug with Quest Link syncing wizard.
