This started a few days ago. It usually happens like this:
I connect the Quest 3 via the in-headset menu (link via usb cable)
I start up DCS World.
After 10-30 minutes the game freezes, when I look to the sides I can see a black/white diamond pattern which I have never seen before in my years owning this headset. (The game froze because the headset disconnected from link).
I reconnect via the in-headset menu again.
After 1-5 seconds the headset disconnects fron link again (same diamond pattern when I look to the sides).
This has rendered the headset unusable for me when playing VR games on my PC.

Can confirm that this is not a hardware cable issue, the cable is pristine and official - no damage or wiggle whatsoever. I have tried beta and stable drivers but problem with both.

It's a problem starting with version 76. Using a slower USB 3 port i.e. USB 3.2 Gen 1 (5 Gb/s) or slower fixed it for me.

I see. Won't this solution have other implications? Lower quality/greater latency?

As long as it's USB 3 the performance should be very near the same. But Type A ports provide less charge than Type C can. Badstar25 has used a INIU DI-401 USB A to USB C cable that has a separate USB-C charging port to fix the charging.
We have submitted bug reports and hopefully Meta can fix it so we can go back to using the faster USB ports. There hasn't been any word from Meta about it yet though so I've no idea how long that will be.

Bought a USB A-C adapter today and had a 1.5h session without disconnects. Really hope they fix this issue asap, but this seems to be a workaround.

The latest firmware fixed the connection on the gen2 ports, but now it's running at a slow 2.3gbps.
How much memory does your Quest 3 have?
