Quest 3 airlink making crackling noises

Echo1914

So I recently got my quest 3 about a few weeks ago and until yesterday/today, I’ve had no problems with air-link. It started yesterday when I went in air-link to play lone echo and upon launch of airlink I hear popping sounds and a constant buzzing. I figured this may have been a weird glitch so I restarted the headset. However it continued. And it would continue while playing the game and the popping would become frequent along with some resolution drops. This seems to only happen when using Air-link and going into games that only use air-link , not steam vr. The Popping and buzzing would only stop once I exit out of quest link. Not sure how to fix this as I’m not very tech savvy but I’ve tried several reboots and setting changes and none of them have worked. Any help would be appreciated as these noises become very annoying and concerning.

I was just having this problem myself. Based on Tom's response I started up my quest 3, and then brought up sound settings (I'm using Windows 11 so maybe diff for you if you are on 10)  Settings > System > Sound and selected the sound device (in this case, it is Headphones - Oculus Virtual Audio Device) After selecting that device I saw that the Volume under Output settings was at 100... this was why the sound was being overdriven on the headset itself. I dropped it to about 80% and now when I load up Airlink and go to select a game, I don't get the crackling anymore.  Hope this helps.

I generally find it best to go into your windows sound manager oculus virtual headset settings an disable any enhancements.  Otherwise, contact meta support I guess.

Hey @Echo1914! We know how exciting PCVR can be when working, and we wouldn't want your VR experience to be anything less than stellar. As the link @TomCgcmfc was so kind as to provide implies, checking your audio settings is a great first step in dealing with audio issues while using PCVR. Additionally, if you would be so kind, we would like to request a few more details to see if we can help get this issue resolved for you:

  • Have their been any software, or hardware, changes to your system before this you started having this issue?
  • Are you experiencing this issue while physically connect to your PC via a cable?
  • If possible, have you attempted to use device with a different PC to see if you experience the same issue?
  • Are you just experiencing this Lone Echo or other Oculus PC apps?

We appreciate your time and patience while we work through this with you.
