Quest 3 auto-updated, ignoring the auto-update settings

I'm the kind of person who hates updating software when the current version is working perfectly, so I always try to avoid updating my devices. That includes video game consoles. Today, my Quest 3 — which has all auto-update settings turned off — restarted and started updating as soon as I took off the headset for a moment and pressed the button to put it into sleep mode.

Frankly, I couldn't care less if the update was forced due to some security flaw or something like that. If, for any reason, this update is buggy, the Quest 3 has anti-rollback technology, and in that case, I'm literally screwed — I live in a country where Meta doesn't offer official support and there’s no one who can repair the device. There's also no way to downgrade in case of issues.

I've already figured out Meta's game of forcing updates like Windows does. I doubt this post will change anything, but I’d really appreciate it if someone could provide a list of domains that the Quest 3 uses to check for updates. I have a professional-grade router that can filter access by domain, so I should be able to ensure that the Quest won’t update anymore.

Thanks in advance.

It's easier to use Sidequest to execute an ADB command to disable the update service.

adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.oculus.updater

My thanks I will try it.

It works. I'm still on v71 and staying there for as long as possible.
