Quest 3 blowing air and won’t turn on

I just purchased a meta quest 3 about 2 weeks ago and the screen would turn black when I had it on. I wouldn’t even be able to type in my passcode by the time it turned black. I did what was said to hold the power and volume buttons for 10 seconds and once I did that it turned off and started blowing air from the front side of the headset. I’ve put it on a charger, held all 3 buttons for 30 seconds+ and still nothing. It’s been 10 minutes and it’s still just blowing out air.

Hi

I am having the same issue, where the fan is blowing and nothing else is happening. I have tried resetting but it does nothing and just keeps blowing the air after a quick pause. the screen stays blank.

Hello there, thank you for your post.

We can see that you are having issue with experiencing black screens on your headset. Please see some troubleshooting steps that might help.

The entire display appears black

  1. Ensure the headset is powered on (check if the power LED is on)
    1. If you have trouble powering the headset back on after performing a factory reset, hold down the power button for 30 seconds.
    2. If there appears to be no power, attempt to charge the headset for 2 hours.
      1. If, after 2 hours of charging, the headset has no power, see Headset won't charge

  2. If the headset powers on, but still no display is present:
    1. Remove any unsupported third-party accessories that may affect boot (such as external battery packs, accessories that plug into the USB-C port, etc.)
    2. Hard Reboot the headset
      1. Hold down the power button and volume down button for 30 seconds until you hear the boot-up sound
      2. If the boot-up sound is not heard:
        1. Hold the power and volume (-) button down simultaneously until the boot screen loads on your headset.
        2. Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight "Boot Device" and press the power button.
        3. Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Yes and press the power button.

Well I held my power off button and my volume down button and it turned on and hold it for 30+ minutes and it should work because it did for me.

Me too, I used the power button and low volume to get to the boot screen.  I used the volume button to turn it off, then plugged it in.  No more air issues I hope!   So weird, I thought it was the volume at first, but it’s air!  Maybe I’ll set it outside for a bit once charged…

Even when I hold power and the volume down button, it still doesn’t work or show me the booting screen.

This didn’t work for me my quest3 isn’t turning on
