Quest 3 casting not working to Samsung Galaxy Tab A8

I am trying to cast to my new Samsung Galaxy Tab A8, but it doesn't work. I connect both devices to my home WiFi network and I can see my Quest 3 connecting on the app. When I press "Cast", the casting seems to initiate, but then a message appears on my Quest 3 saying: "Casting ended. You're no longer casting to the Meta Quest App." This message pops up every 5 seconds repeatedly until I restart my Quest 3.

Casting from my Quest 3 works fine to my Samsung S20 Ultra phone and also to my Desktop, so it looks like an issue with compatibility.

Can you help me with this? Do I need another Tablet? This one is too cheap?

Hey @GodlikeWolf!, I'd be happy to jump in here and provide an answer to you as to why your tablet isn't working for casting.

When it comes to the Meta Quest app, tablets are not fully supported so there can be issues with features (such as casting.) We usually recommend using a phone or, if possible, casting through Oculus.com/casting for best quality.

Nevertheless, I do suggest giving these steps a shot just in case something seems to stick. If that doesn't work out, the next best thing would be to submit a bug report which will go straight to the engineers for further review.

Hey there @VR_Dream_1 ! It seems like you're having a fantastic time streaming your gameplay everywhere except on your tablet. It's likely that your tablet is not up to date compared to your phone. Kindly make sure to check for any updates and ensure that you have the most recent version of the Quest app downloaded too.

I am afraid that didn't help. Casting still doesn't work. Can you recommend which cheap tablet device works best for casting?

Thank you for letting us know, @VR_Dream_1. Since you are still having trouble casting through your tablet, we definitely want to do our best to get to the bottom of this issue! We just have a few questions for clarification purposes:

  • Have you been able to cast to your tablet before, and if so, when did this stop?
  • Have you tried casting on any other devices (e.g., iPad, Android, tablet)?
  • Have you attempted to uninstall and reinstall the app?
  • What other troubleshooting steps, if any, have you already tried?

We look forward to hearing back from you and working together on this!

Hello, I have exactly the same problem with the Samsung Galaxy Tablet, which I bought specially for casting my Quest 3. Casting to my android phone works fine. Both devices are on the same home network, 5ghz channel. Headset and tablet are up to date. It starts casting and in the headset and on the tablet message appears that the casting stopped about 2 seconds later. The tablet was freshly reset to factory settings and updated. New install of the quest app. But the problem persists.

Model of tablet: Galaxy A8

 One UI fersion: 6.0

Android 14

Can you help us please?
