Quest 3 constant random disconnect / freeze using link cable

Furrnicat

Since I got my link cable 2 days ago, it's been a constant battle against random disconnects. It can happen after 3 minutes or 30, sometimes even an hour. Sometimes it's one after another, sometimes just once.

Reconnecting by quitting Link in the headset and connecting again starts off from where it left, meaning PC doesn't freeze.

My PC specs: 5800x3D, GPU 3070, 32 GB RAM DDR4 3200 Mhz, Asus B550-Plus Wifi II, Windows 11 Pro latest 24H2 (this might an issue?).

Quest connects fine and it's USB 3 as in Meta App. USB test sometimes fails, sometimes runs, but when it does I get 2.1 Gbps connection.

What I tried so far:

1. All USB 3 ports on my PC. Some don't even start at all, like when opening Link it freezes immediately after connecting. Although all are USB 3. Only 2 ports work

2. Reinstalling Meta App, including on different drive.

3. Updating everything driver related

4. Tried different bitrates from 200 to 900 in increments of 50. Doesn't make a difference.

5. Tried with different options in Oculus Debug Tool On / off: Resolution Width (different values), Dynamic Bitrate, Different Codes, Sliced Encoding.

6. Letting the cable untangled and as little bent as possible, make sure it's fixed in the headset as well as in the usb port. Moving the cable while connected doesn't disconnect so it shouldn't be a cable issue.

7. Deactivating several things on the Headset: Wifi, Bluetooth, Airlink etc.

I'm at a loss. Please help! Here is what comes up in the Oculus Debug Log as first error exactly when it disconnects, every time:

{!ERROR!} [Kernel:Error] OVR Error:

Code: -6102 -- ovrError_XRStreamingUSBIssue

Description: WinUsb_WritePipe(handle:0x0000029B4823F1A0, ep:1, len:1024) failed: (31) A device attached to the system is not functioning.

Couldn't find anything useful related to it. Opened a ticket with Meta, so far no luck.

Anyone else has any idea? It drives me mad as it's much better than Airlink or VD.
