Quest 3 controller pairs but not working at all

Sindrix

Hi All!

I have the exact same problem. My right Quest 3 controller ceased to accept any button/thumbstick inputs but was paired fine to the headset. The next day the left controller did the same, no buttons/thumbstick inputs but paired and tracks just fine with the headset. Now both controllers can be seen in the headset and move just fine, but not button/thumbstick inputs work at all.

  • I have tried new batteries (tested with a voltmeter, too).
  • I've tried leaving the batteries out for 24 hours and then unpairing the controllers and pairing them with the Andriod Meta Horizon App.
  • I've tried doing the Controller Reset for both controllers. It was very difficult to do, took several attempts, but I did succeed in doing the Controller Reset for both using the App.
  • I've not dropped them or hit them against anything.
  • It's odd that they BOTH stopped working in the exact same way within a day of each other.
  • I've checked that all updates have been installed.
  • I have NOT yet done a Factory Reset for the headset.

What should I try now?

Thanks in advance!

Hi there, @Sindrix. Getting you back to VR gaming is essential to us, so we'd love to help with your controllers' buttons input! In order for us to get a better idea of the specifics of your situation, could you please clarify, is there any LED light on your controllers at all? Do you happen to be using any third-party accessories with your controller or headset? Also, were you able to clean your controllers using the approved methods listed here? Keep us updated when you get a chance!

Thanks for the timely response! I'm eager to get back to my Supernatural workouts.

  •  is there any LED light on your controllers at all? The Left controller's white LED lights up when I press the Menu button (the 3 horizontal lines). The Right controller's LED's don't light up at all.
  • Do you happen to be using any third-party accessories with your controller or headset? I just have a padded head strap: Amazon.com: DESTEK QH3 Pressure-Free Head Strap with Lens Protector – Enhanced Comfort and Top-Fit A...
  • Also, were you able to clean your controllers using the approved methods listed here? Yes, but no change in how the controllers are behaving.

Thanks again!
