The controllers frequently go to sleep within seconds, in the hand, while using it. Is this supposed to be a feature? If so, for whom? Whose life is this supposed to enhance? Is this feature being addressed as an issue? Could a toggle be added in the options? Most people have rechargeable batteries, controller losing charge is not an issue. It going to sleep in the hand is an issue.
Or are my controllers broken? They sure feel like they are broken going to sleep every few seconds. This is absurd. In some games or apps, Xtadium is one, I have to constantly shake the controller to keep it awake like I have a nervous system condition, is that the intended experience?

I'm here to bump this thread because it's inexcusably bad. I keep reading that it's a "feature", well it's a terribly implemented one. A user setting to allow how long before the controllers sleep would be great, or even just the ability to disable it completely. It shouldn't fall asleep while I'm literally holding the thing. There are also plenty of times I want to set a controller down and still be able to see it in VR, you know, like literally every other headset can do. Doing this makes it sleep and then I have to either take the headset off or go into passthrough to pick the controller back up. Is the power consumption so bad that the sleep needs to be so excessive? The HMD is great, nearly everything about the controllers, not so much.

I know your post is from a few weeks ago, but there have been a few bug reports [1][2] around the latest updates causing controller issues in apps. I'm not sure if that is directly tied to this, as I only picked it back up recently myself to test out the Windows link feature and came across this issue.

Don't worry, I necro'd the thread to comment too. It happens to me even in the start location. I timed it, about 15 seconds and they'll disappear. This didn't seem to be the behavior until a few updates ago. Crazy frustrating. What really gets me is that the controllers don't fully wake by pulling the trigger, only pressing on a button. If I try and wake it with the trigger and then press a button, it registers the button press in what ever app I'm in rather than waking the controller. Complete ruins content consumption, switching between a joy con and controller, god forbid I have to type anything into a keyboard and then hunt around for the controllers. Strange.
