Quest 3 hand tracking not working any more

Fenesturius

Hi everyone (including Meta support team),

I have been using my quest 3 since last November including the hand and body tracking functionalities without running into any issues. Starting a few days ago the hand tracking feature does not seem to work any more. When I put the controllers on a surface as required to switch to hand tracking, I can see the hand shapes at the controller and when I wait for a few seconds I can use hand tracking for one or both hands for a about two seconds before they "disappear". I have already followed the list of advices I could find here, namely rebooting, pairing the controllers , making sure that the batteries are fully charged, room change as well as factory reset. I also cleaned up the lenses carefully. Nothing of it worked so I am hoping to get some help here, maybe even from Meta themselves. Other than that I start believing that maybe there is a hardware issue and this might be a warranty case....

Thanks a lot,

Fenesturius

Hey there! Thank you for getting in contact with Meta Quest Support.

We totally get it. We know how frustrating it can be when hand tracking doesn't work right. We want you to have a great time with VR, and we're here to help you get back on track!

We know you've already tried some of our troubleshooting steps, and we really appreciate it!  As you keep having issues with hand tracking, here are a few things you can also try:

  • Ensure that your area is well lit, with enough light to clearly see, but not direct sunlight.
  • Ensure that your area is free of small lights such as Christmas lights or LED strips.
  • Ensure that your area is free of any reflective surfaces such as mirrors, glass or polished marble.

We would also recommend trying to turn on the hand tracking manually following the next steps:

  1. Press Meta button for VR headset controllers / oculus icon on your controller to open the universal menu.
  2. Select the clock on the left side of the universal menu to open Quick settings.
  3. Select Settings in the top right, then select Movement tracking.
  4. Select the toggle next to Hand and body tracking to turn this feature on or off.

If that does not fix your issue please send us a private message and we will have a look at your options. To private message us, please select our name to get to our profile page, or click here: https://metaque.st/CommunitySupport.
