Quest 3 lost all tracking

Brand new quest 3 just arrived, configured an everything was doing pretty well. Was just logging into a game when all tracking just stopped working, a window saying "Tracking lost" showed up, but I couldn't click anything since the controllers stopped working too, hand tracking also wasnt working. I tried cleaning up the cameras with a very soft towel, tried rebooting, resetting to factory settings, everything I could. The screen is either completely black, black with a dot or on the starting screen asking to turn on the controllers, but the screen just moves randomly and isn't following the headset movements at all. There is a white dot blinking on the left controller and they keep vibrating every few seconds.

I’m still waiting for return labels which I was promised over a month ago. I don’t know what’s worse. The worthless oculus 3 or their customer service. It is by far the worst product I’ve ever purchased. I’m currently looking into class action lawsuits. I have over 500 emails from customer service that are full of lies and broken promises.

I've had mine since last Christmas and I was playing blade and sorcery a little to hard and slowly fell on my bed and it's now saying that I'm on a plane 😬

Hey there! I see you're having issues with your headset and I think is best to get connected with @MetaQuestSupport to get the assistance needed.

We are all mad here.

You can add me to this list. Exactly the same tracking lost message after using my headset for an active game. Just over 1 month of usage. Convinced it’s sweat damage. Factory reset brims the same blank screen, music and vibrating controllers as everyone else.

Did your issue appear when you put it on after having it on charge or just not wearing it for sometime, as that's when mine always happens?  So far, it has eventually corrected itself and I am starting the think that is somehow the cause.   Apparently Android has a way of gradually shutting down when it hasn't been used for sometime and if that gets interrupted at an inopportune moment, bad stuff might happen.  The devs needing to maximise battery usage as much as possible, might have lead to some corners being cut.

I also had issues with my Meta Elite Strap with Battery being disconnected, again when it had been on charge and as I put it onto my head.  I suspect that with my battery disconnection issues now being far more rare, something might have been updated in one of the updates since I got my headset, so hopefully they'll figure this one out too and get it fixed.

I was playing golf plus. Took a one hour break and it happened when I put it on again. I didn’t put my device on charge but I have an elite headstrap with battery so it will technically have been charging the internal battery from the external.

I really don’t think there’s any need to overthink this. I’m confident it’s just sweat damage.

Happened to me just this morning (had the MQ3 for a few weeks now). I restarted the thing a couple of times, then wiped off the inside of the ocular area (lots of dried sweat gathered there, was playing lots of rhythm and movement games), then made a few quick movements within the sensor's radius. Flicking fingers, that sort of thing, to get it to react. The set let out a few beep-boop sounds, the lights flickered a bit, then everything returned to normal. Tracking and all.

My guess is the tracking sensor on the inside gets "gummed-up" a bit, after a while. Needs to be poked with a metaphorical stick, to get back to normal.

Maybe that was just my device and the heavy use of it for physically-exerting games, but might be worth giving it a try.

Glad you’ve got it working again. Still a concern it’s happened so quickly into ownership. I’ve actually returned mine for a replacement so will see how long this one lasts. I’ve removed the silicone shield and went back to stock as I think that was actually causing me to sweat more.

You might be right.

I had another instance last night, but got it working again, pretty quickly, with a power-cycle of the headset.

Although we shouldn't need to put up with this, I can live with how it is at the moment.  Hopefully it won't get more frequent or harder/impossible to correct, as having to get a 2nd hand replacement is hardly filling me with enthusiasm.
