I'm a disabled Quest 2/3 user and am unable to grasp and lift the standard motion controls, meaning they are unusable for me. Up until today the way I've been able to use operate both Quests(and Gear VR as well) has been with the head-tracking dot and a gamepad to input my button choices. Today it was working fine until I installed the latest update. Upon restart I was told no controller was detected, and the aiming dot/gamepad input no longer worked. The Xbox controller I use was still paired per the home button light, and with assistance was able to determine the controller could still be used once in the new Xbox cloud streaming app. Is this a bug, is there a setting to allow the gamepad to function as a controller that I missed, or has this feature been removed intentionally?

To start, let's try removing the controller completely and then try pairing again. You can do so by factory resetting your headset using the steps provided here. Please make sure to enable your Meta cloud back up first to avoid the loss of any data as well. You can do so by following these steps provided here.
Once this is complete, let's try connecting your controller again by using the following steps provided on this link.

As always that support suggest a factory reset as a 'fix' - that's like ripping the engine out of the car for a rebuild just because the brakes make a noise.

Very disappointed with this , seems you have to reset the entire headset and redownload everything? that’s honestly sad, and should not even have to be an option for the consumer. Definitely returning my headset as there is no point in even owning one if you have to factory reset every other time just to get a Xbox controller to work. Only reason I bought a headset was to play xbox app. Oh well

Hi greedo909 - Do you mind if I ask for some advice re using the Quest with Xbox controller as an alternative for people with disabilities? I am testing it for a friend for whom this would be useful. I have managed to connect the Xbox controller to the Quest 3 via Bluetooth, and I have the head-tracking dot working with it to operate the home menus, as you said you do. However, when I launch any actual app, the head-tracking dot disappears, and I am unable to use the Xbox controller to operate the app or game itself (for example the YouTube app). What apps or games have you found which can be operated with this set up (other than the Xbox cloud gaming app itself)? Can you get much use out of the headset with this kind of set up? It would be really helpful to know if this is a viable option. Many thanks 🙏🏻

I have the same issue. I can use the controller to navigate the menus but xbox app says there is no controller and games don't work. Reset of the headset does not fix, nor does re-pairing the controller.
