Quest 3 "Headset tracking lost", making headset unusable.

So, i booted up my headset, and it was working fine about 2 hours before this, but suddenly, now, the headset wouldnt detect the controllers and had some text in front of my face saying "Headset tracking lost" and i couldn't move my head to press any buttons, because the window was anchored to my face. Ive tried cleaning all of the cameras, didnt work. I tried cleaning the little sensor thats inbetween the lenses, didnt fix anything, i factory reset the headset from the meta app, didnt fix anything, but now the headset just has a black screen whenever i turn it on, and no "tracking lost" window. I tried factory reseting the headset by holding down the power button + volume down, didnt fix anything, stuck with the same black screen. Does anybody know any fixes? Im prob just going to refund my headset for the 4th time.

This pisses me off, as this is my 3rd Quest 3, ive had to refund and replace every previous one, because either the tracking started to suck one day, or it wouldnt let me create boundaries. Not meaning to be a karen, but when i pay $800 AUD for a VR headset, i expect for it to work for at least a year, and not die within the first 3 months.

Hi @tunafishy6! We understand that your device is stuck on a black screen after you performed a factory reset. Getting stuck on a blank screen is no fun at all. Let's take a closer look at that and see what's going on. There's a couple things we'd like to know before we begin.

  • Is your headset fully charged?
  • Are you looking at a solid black screen that stays there, or does it flicker?
  • Has your headset recently been dropped, fallen or whacked against anything?

We recommend charging it for at least 2 hours and then attempting to turn it on again. Another option is to perform a hard reboot.

  • Simply hold down the power button and volume down button for 30 seconds until you hear the boot-up sound.
  • If you don't hear the sound, try holding the power and volume (-) buttons simultaneously until the boot screen appears on your headset.
  • From there, use the volume buttons to select "Boot Device" and press the power button.
  • Finally, use the volume buttons to highlight "Yes" and press the power button.

Ive already tried charging the headset for 2 hours, didnt change anything. But I'll try the hard reboot when I get home (I'll be about a week) and update you guys on if it works or not.

@tunafishy6  I think this is your problem, sweat killing the electronics. Get meta to replace it and get one of the facial interfaces mentioned in the thread below.

Solved: 4 headset replacements in 4 months

Four Rift CV1s, Quest 2, Quest 3, Lenovo Explorer WMR, GearVR
