Eikotehmouse

like the title states, laying down mode has stopped working for me on the steam link app. Ive tried switching steam link versions, recreating my playspaces. but even when i tell it to use it. when in app it no longer resets my position to be looking forward instead of straight up! i haven't used the headset for a couple months. so one of the updates borked something up....

Hey @Eikotehmouse, you've pretty much answered your own question...

Steam is an unsupported third party software, and messes with the headsets - delete! 😀🍒

It has worked flawlessly since Laying down mode was release.. Not even the previous version of steam VR , which mind you was working perfectly before my hiatus. Doesn't work anymore. Which tells me its a headset issue. It could of been a bad headset update.

Maybe actually being helpful and wiliness to help troubleshoot on the headset side. So, we can eliminate any possible chance that it is the headset, Would prove to be a better response then "haha, your SOL cause you mentioned a non first party app" Just putting that out there...

I’ve been trying to sort this out for weeks. It’s only steam VR (and thus my whole game library) that doesn’t work anymore. Much like you, it was working flawlessly before. Meta told me to go and **bleep** myself (more or less) because it seems like a steam issue. Steam is bloody hard to contact and didn’t offer any help. Let me know how you went?

Hey there, @Eikotehmouse and @RockhardRyno.

We know how important it is to maintain access to your VR library, even if it is through unknown sources we don't officially support, such as SteamVR. We also know how important comfort in VR is. Being able to lay down while in VR is comfortable but is still a new feature in the experimental phase, hence it is in the experimental settings. We would be happy to look into any issues on our end and ask you to test standalone apps or apps directly from the Meta Quest Link PC software using a Link Cable or Air Link.

While it is possible that a headset update caused a compatibility issue, it is ultimately up to Steam to keep their app (Steam Link) updated to support headset updates, changes, and features since we do not officially support third party apps. It is also possible Steam made changes to their app to use "true down" instead of the "modified down" that the experimental lying down mode on the Meta Quest headset sets. Since we do not have inside knowledge about Steam Link's design, we cannot confirm if that is the case or not and why it's important to report app specific issues to the developers.

If it is only the one app (Steam Link) that is having issues, then it is more than likely something Steam will need to fix in their app and not something we can fix.

If there are issues with normal apps that do not use a PC, make sure that you Report a problem on Meta Quest.

We hope this clarifies some things further. Please be sure to give non-Steam apps a test, and let us know if those also have issues with the laying down experimental setting.

sorry for late reply. yea, lay down mode just doesn't work any more. no app first or third party is giving a prompt to use it when, i go through the the motions... even on stand alone VRChat. it used to put me in standing position when, active. now it Doesn't ... I cleared boundaries, re-did my spaces, even factory reset and updated to v69...

Hey @Eikotehmouse, just to check is the feature still enabled in your settings? (under 'experimental' as shown here. )

After updating, it may have knocked this feature off. I understand this sounds like a simple thing to miss however I am just double checking to get you a solution as soon as I can.

If the feature is still not working, please get back in touch and could you also submit a bug report which will allow the engineers to be alerted of this situation.

I hope this helps.

Just tryna keep the Peas on here. 﫛

Yup, I've sent 3 bug reports. And I've turned off and on lay down mode multiple times as I tried to troubleshoot at multiple stages. It somewhat works in horizon worlds and rec room. But, there is still no prompt to play them in lay down mode on startup. So, something isn't communicating properly...

Not sure if this helps. but,I'm also getting a warning to turn on the lights. Even in a well lit room... Could there be an issue with the cameras / what even allows the device to detect it's orientation? Cause I get no rotation vertical recalibration nor rotational (head tilt) recalibration anymore...

Still need help?
