I've been having my Quest 3 since its launch date and, recently, I noticed something very weird going on with the left lens.
First off, I never dropped my headset, never exposed it to sunlight, never scratched the lenses (I don't use glasses or prescription lenses, as my vision is perfectly fine) and I always cleaned the lenses with only a dry microfiber cloth, and always stored the Quest inside its original box.
So, it's definitely not a problem with my use.
The problem that I have encountered recently, is that basically, whenever I move my eyes to see a particular part of the screen, I notice a sort of blur/smudge effect at the center of the left lens, like the left lens had some dirt/condensation inside them that cause a part of the screen blurry.
Cleaning the lenses with a microfiber cloth doesn't fix the issue at all. It's always there.
Checking the Quest lenses under a light, I definitely see no scratches or any smudges leftovers from regular use.
But I noticed a tiny spot, like a botch, in one angle of the left lens, that reflects a sort of "blue-ish" halo/light, when viewed under a light, compared to the rest of the lens. It looks exactly like when someone presses too hard on a LCD panel with a finger, so to speak.
Same effect.
Tried changing IPD settings, but it doesn't do that much.
It's hard to take photos of this as the spot it's just so tiny, but I was wondering if someone else ever got this sort of "problem" with their Quest 3, if it is a manufacturing problem, or if it's just the nature of pancake lenses.
During regular use, I see everything clearly. No blue light from the LCD or blurry text.
Perfect edge-to-edge visuals.
But, whenever I look at a certain angle with my eyes, I notice this sort of smeary/blur effect on the left lens, particularly on the Bigscreen App, when I'm watching something bright on a virtual theater screen.
Is this a manufacturing problem, or it's just the way pancake lenses are?
Just wanted to be sure as, after all this time, I only had fun with my headset, despite this small problem that I recently encountered.
