My headset (Meta Quest 3) worked fine this morning. This evening when I turned it on, it didn't say anything, just went black and eventually seemed like it restarted. Then showed a screen where it looked like something was downloading. I assumed an update was happening.
It got stuck in a loop. Figured nothing couldn't do anything else so was just going to factory reset. I couldn't via the app because the headset is not yet started. So I looked up how to manually factory reset the headset. So I hold the power and vol down buttons and select factory reset.
The headset restarts and then it does the download again and gets into the same loop.
I tried to reply to this thread but it's locked:

After reading that I then saw it said don't factory reset. I'm kind of pissed. Worked fine this morning and I charge my set after my morning workout so the battery was full.
That thread was a month ago. Was this a new update today?
What do I do now?

@BerlingoManDK @PrfsJay I'm glad both of your headsets seem to be working now after performing the factory reset, despite the loss of game progress! If it helps in the future, I recommend enabling Cloud Backup if it isn't enabled already. Not all game data will be backed up, however, since its up to app developers to enable the feature—along with what game data is backed up to the cloud. If Cloud Backup was enabled previously, it's possible this may be what happened after recovering your headset from the factory reset.
@TheRealKrom Thanks for keeping me looped into your situation. If you're unable to enter the PTC due to not being able to access Headset Settings within the mobile app, and the factory reset didn't end up working out, there would only be 2 other options you'd be able to try.
I'd imagine that if you did end up qualifying for a replacement, it would be much faster to go through that process than to wait for the live release of V68—given that the PTC just started rolling out for that build.

my quest 3 also won’t boot past the spinning meta logo. I have held power and volume down and tried both a shutdown and reboot from that menu. I’m holding off on the factory reset since I too saw that thread from a month ago. Help us meta.

Yea the factory reset didn't work anyways. Got stuck in the same loop. I had to go into the menu and select power off to get the headset to just stop. So it's just a paperweight atm 😡.

I put my Meta Quest 3 on tonight and instead of it showing user selection, it is a black screen with a blue spinning meta logo. Worked fine a week ago when I last played. When I last played I closed the game app, took it off my head and plugged it in … I did not force it to shut down.
Steps I have tried: Holding power button down for 30+ seconds to force a reboot, held power and volume down for 10+ seconds to access the menu where I have tried both a shutdown and a reboot from that menu. I have NOT attempted a factory reset yet as I just noticed a post from a month ago telling another user to hold off on that. Help please.

Yuck. I posted a unique thread as well to hopefully show Meta’s system that there is more than one of us experiencing this problem.

This post says to send them a PM when in this situation. However, the link for the PM goes to the forum page where we post the question in the first place. Confusing. How do we send a PM?

Oh at the top of the forum where the big blue button says Send Message 😅. Tonight was supposed to be a night of gaming, not troubleshooting. 😒

I'm having the same issue, after what looked like the headset was installing a firmware update the meta logo appears, spins, fades, and repeats endlessly. Headset is 100% charged. I have not done a factory reset. Please help with this issue.

I have check repeatedly and also tried to sideload the update to see if it will work, and I do not think factory resetting will resolve this issue! I believe this is a result of the v67 software update as I have done everything I can to get it off of boot loop. I even let the headset battery die and recharged it to try to see if that will work and no resolve! I guess we are just going to have to wait till the issue gets resolved via a follow up update and sideload the fixed software then!
