Quest 3 stuck on spinning meta symbol

Due to this firmware update problem (turn on device, SIM card symbol & downward arrow with green progress bar appears and the progress bar fills up, then screen briefly goes black and then the meta symbol shows up and instead of booting up properly—it just sits and spins, and spins, and spins) I have had a quest 2, and now 2 quest 3’s go to brickville. I have tried EVERYTHING that has been mentioned above to remedy the issue and have had to send in my quest 2 (several months ago) and one of my quest 3’s (1 week ago) at Meta’s request in order to receive replacement headsets. As a replacement, I received a refurbished quest 2 and it has been working fine ever since. As for the quest 3, I only sent it in about a week ago so I cannot speak to the functionality of the replacement nor do I know if the headset being sent to me will be a refurbished one or a brand new one (although I’m guessing that it will be the former). Since it took almost 3 weeks for me to get my refurbished quest 2 back from Meta, I hastily decided to buy ANOTHER quest 3, as the thought of potentially waiting another month for the replacement to arrive was not an option for me (I use “The Thrill of the Fight” nearly every day and it is the most important part of my daily exercise regimen). Sadly, within about 2 weeks of performing perfectly, the ol’ firmware update/infinite  boot loop issue arose yet again. So I am curious: when I am finished using it for the day—is there any way that I can set my headset up for a greater chance of success to correctly receive the firmware update overnight, perhaps? For example, when I’m done using it for the day, instead of powering the device down and then plugging it into the charger as I usually do, would it improve my chances to successfully receive the firmware update if I simply left it on—and then plugged it in to the charger, as I normally would? Is there any sort of ritualistic dance or offering (human sacrifice? a shot of rum? the blood of a hyena?) that I could provide the headset to prove to it that I am worthy of it’s continued use? All joking aside, is there ANY chance that I’m doing something wrong when I’m finished using the headset? Is there a better way aside from shutting it down and plugging it in that would give me a better chance to properly receive software/firmware updates? I can think of ONE time with all of my headsets that after the green progress bar filled up that it properly booted up afterwards and continued working as normal—and that was with one of my quest 2’s. This is THE most frustrating part about owning one of these headsets and I have to believe that all of this firmware nonsense can be solved without having to try all the usual remedies, having zero success with any of them, and inevitably having to get a support ticket (or whatever it’s called) so that I can send it in for a replacement while I slowly rock back and forth in a rocking chair, facing the corner of my room, with a crooked smile, quietly repeating the words, “the firmware update won’t work, the firmware update won’t worrrk…” or “why? why me? why? why meeeeeeee?” until the mailman shows up with my replacement. I have the receipt and the extended warranty…. Can’t I just return it to the store I bought it, so I can get another one from them if it’s in stock?

I just want to say you are not alone.  Although it seems kind of rare this type of thing happening because I see that  family and friends do not have this experience with their VR headset...it does happen.  And all of what you said is exactly what I say to myself.  Why me????  I've had 7 or 8 headsets that have either gone into the gray/black bricked mode or the recent issue of the spinning meta logo.  I've asked all those questions about if I should leave it on, make sure it's turned off after every use even if I'll be using it again in half hour... is my head too hot hehe, do I give off energy that zaps it etc.  But I'm left with who knows.  I feel I won the bricked lottery and it's a lottery I dont' want to be part of anymore.  Good luck with future sets Peeteyd!

Yes I have tried a factory reset. Problem persists.  I am planning on plugging it into my iMac tonight to see if I can utilize the software update tools that seem to be available on the Meta support site. I guess the question I really need answered is whether or not there is a better way to set my headset up for success when it comes to receiving an overnight automatic firmware update? Would it be worth trying if I just left the headset on after I’m done using it, plugged it into the charger, and allowed it to enter sleep mode as opposed to shutting the headset off completely before plugging it in? Or is it possible that manually updating the headset (if I am able to get the thing booted up, or once I receive the replacement) is the way to go? If that were the case, then how would I know about future firmware updates ahead of time so I could do the update manually? Is there an option to turn off automatic updates altogether and then checking the Meta site to see if an update has been released? Once I’m able to confirm an update has in fact been released, at that point would attempting to complete the update manually be a viable option? All I can say is that this whole auto-software/firmware method has failed me time and time again. I need guidance. PLEASE. Thank you.
