Quest 3 v72 Remote Desktop Audio Issues - Passthrough audio not working

Not getting audio passthrough, I promise I have all the prerequisites. I used the official documentation: https://www.meta.com/help/quest/articles/in-vr-experiences/oculus-features/mixed-reality-meta-quest/ I do have forward computer audio on. Oculus virtual audio device is automatically set as default audio, but still don't hear audio. Using Quest Link, I get audio perfectly fine. If this is a windows issue, is there any potential setting to fix this? Is this a driver issue with Oculus Virtual Audio Device?

Having a similar issue. Audio is not being forwarded to the headset. This work in Immersed.

I don't think that the v72 "Mixed Reality Link" feature should use/require the Oculus Virtual Audio device. I don't have that device as audio device in Windows and audio forwarding works.

But it did not work in the beginning and it does not work with all local (i.e. Windows) audio devices.

I usually use the monitor's speakers and have audio output via HDMI. With this setup I would get about 2 seconds of audio forwarded when connecting to the PC before audio would be gone. The issue here was that the Mixed Reality Link turns off the monitor output in such a way that the audio device completely disappears.

I then tried connecting a Logitech Wireless Headset (or, more precisely, its USB dongle) to work around the disappearing audio device issue. While Windows would continue to play audio on this device after I connected, there would not be any forwarded audio on the Quest. (Not even the 2 seconds I got before.)

I then tried connecting wired headphones to the Windows PC's motherboard's integrated audio device so Windows could use that device for playback. With that setup, audio forwarding works great. When connecting, the local audio device will get muted (but Windows will still use the device for audio output) and audio will then be forwarded to the Quest. Upon disconnecting, the local audio device will be unmuted.

Seems to me that audio forwarding for some reason does not work with all audio devices on the Windows PC.

(I did temporarily install Oculus Link when troubleshooting this. The Mixed Reality Link would then use the Oculus Virtual Audio Device but that did not work flawlessly. I have since uninstalled Oculus Link and with it the Oculus Virtual Audio Device.)

@kam712398: I your case I would try two things:

  1. Set a different audio device in Windows to be the default. (Maybe even disable the Oculus Virtual Audio Device in Windows, just to be sure it won't be used.) Then see if audio forwarding does work.
  2. Leave the Oculus Virtual Audio Device as default, but disable audio forwarding (might require you to disconnect and reconnect, not sure). Using the Oculus Virtual Audio Device should not require audio forwarding, since audio output to that device is already audio output to the Quest. I assume that output to the Quest plus audio forwarding to the Quest results in whatever problem which then gives no audio output at all.
