Quest 3S USB-C port appears to be superspeed in one plug orientation only

When I connect an Iniu DI-401 link cable from my PC to my Quest 3S the Meta Link software warns me that it is connected at USB 2 - 340Mbps instead of USB 3 - 2.8 Gbps.

If I connect the usb-c right angle connector the other way up, it connects at USB 3 - 2.8 Gbps. This is a problem because I cannot attach the cable with the provided velco to my headstrap to reduce stress.

The Meta Link support page states:
If a USB 3 cable in a USB 3 port is recognised as USB 2, try these tips:

Ensure that USB A to USB C adapters support USB 3.
Check adapter orientation if USB 3 is only supported one way.
Reseat USB C to USB C cables in different orientations.
Ensure that PCI-E card cables are fully inserted.

I tested an Anker USB-A to USB-C cable for comparison, and the same thing happens. One side of the USB-C connects at USB 3 speed and the other at USB 2 speed.

Next I tested my Google Pixel 6A phone using USB Tree View. With the Iniu and Anker cables, both connected at USB 3 speed on both sides of the USB-C plug!

This leads me to believe that the problem is with the headset port wiring rather than a particular cable.

I'd like to know if anyone else has noticed this with their headsets?
I wonder, are all Quest 3S USB-C ports wired for superspeed in one orientation only, or just mine?
Or is the problem something else I haven't thought of?

I fixed it by powering off and on the headset. I forgot the first rule of troubleshooting!
