Quest AirLink failure

Strahan

Hi.  Another forum poster told me about AirLink, which is awesome.  I thought I'd need to be tethered to use Steam games.  So I installed the app on my PC.  It's at this screen:

So I fired up the Quest and went to settings, link, enabled it and clicked launch.  It opens the tool and said searching for PC.  It's taking forever and nothing is happening.

Then it hit me; my PC is on the 10.0.10.0/24 network whilst the wifi that the Quest is connected to is on another VLAN, on network 10.0.2.0/24.  Does anyone know if AirLink is using broadcast or multicast to find PCs?  If it's broadcast, I'm hosed.  If it's multicast, I think I can setup multicast routing but I'd have to read up on how to do that on IOS.

I suppose for the time being I could just setup a spare wifi router on the same subnet as my PC.  Does anyone else have multiple networks and have had to deal with this?

Thanks!

@Strahan  at best, the airlink/link software is garbage.  As old leather jacket would say, "it just doesn't work"

What GPU do you have as there's a minimum spec list for meta PCVR online.

Try the SteamLink or Virtual Desktop apps to connect your PC to the headset wirelessly.

It's broadcast. The PC and headset have to be on the same subnet or VLAN. Only Virtual desktop is able to work across logical boundaries.

Thanks, that's kinda what I figured.  Ah well!

I'm using a GTX 1080.  Thanks.

@Strahan  you 'should' be good to go with the GPU according to meta supported hardware list.
