I have tried setting up my Quest 3 with the PC Quest Link app but keep getting the Graphics Card Not Compatible Error Message.
I have done every single thing I can find on these forums. I have a Dell XPS 15 9530 with an Nvidia GTX 4060 installed, it has 32gb Ram and an Intel i7 graphics card so I know it is compatible.
I have disabled the intel integrated graphics card, I have set items in the task manager to high priority, etc etc, nothing works yet on a lower spec MSI laptop it connected immediately.
Has anyone got any ideas that are not on this forum already ?
Thanks in advance

Hey @Blackadder007! I noticed you were having trouble getting your Dell XPS up and running for Quest Link, so I wanted to pop in to provide some more insight. On paper, you're definitely right that the 4060 is a supported GPU for Quest Link. The main unforeseen issue when it comes to laptop GPUs is the TGP rating—or total graphics power. Going off of Dell's website for the XPS 15, it looks like the rating for your laptop is 40W. Typically, the TGP rating can vary between 35W-115W, with 35W being the lower end of the spectrum in terms of performance.
Notebookcheck did a great study and benchmark on the 40 series mobile GPUs, to get a good idea of the comparison. They also did a performance benchmark test for the 4060 mobile @115W, if you're curious to find out more. To get the most out of your mobile GPU, the recommendation from a majority of users tends to be about 95W-100W.

Hi
@TheLegend27 , thanks for the message, I am not sure how I would increase the TGP rating of the card is built into the laptop, I am guessing (please pardon my ignorance) I would have to change the card?
My other query would be why is this rating not mentioned on Meta’s site if it is a critical requirement?
Apologies but this seems odd as a requirement that is not mentioned anywhere on any article I have looked at, many other users of laptops report the same issue. As I mentioned I have an MSI with a much poorer 2070 card in it that this worked fine on, my suspicion is it is a meta software issue, but happy to be corrected as I am no hardware expert, I really do appreciate the reply though, all knowledge is learning

Great question! The TGP rating of your card isn't really something can be modified directly, as the limitations are set by the manufacturer. While changing the card in your laptop is possible, it's certainly not an easy or cheap job, since it's usually integrated directly in to the laptop's motherboard. You might be better off replacing the laptop entirely with a higher TGP rated one, or building a desktop instead.
The TGP rating indicates how much power the GPU can use. The discrepancy you’re experiencing may be due to the specific power limitations of the 4060M in your Dell XPS 15. Even though the 4060M is technically slightly more powerful than the 2070M, the lower TGP can limit its performance in high-demand applications like VR. Your MSI laptop’s 2070M might have had a higher TGP, allowing it to perform better despite being an older model.
To help verify that it isn't something software related effecting your ability to use Quest Link, I highly recommend reaching out to our support team to take a look into your log files. They'll be able to do a deep dive on your drivers, potentially conflicting software, etc. to ensure that it really is a TGP related issue.
Hope this information helps!
