Quest Link does not work unless I use a usb c phone charger

Hello all,

I have browsed google and nothing I have found gives me an answer that works.

With my quest 3, when I try to connect it to my PC with the official QuestLink cable, or a Kuject cable I got, the headset charges but I cannot use it to link to my pc.

I have a usb c iphone cable from Anker, that I tried. This works perfect. The Kuject cable came with a usb c > usb adapter. If I use this and plug it into a usb port, it works. But I do not get sound and lose charge.

I cannot wrap my head around how, out of 3 cables, only 1 usb c one works in the port. And its a phone cable. Its super short and I cannot use it. Clearly the Kuject cable should work since it works with the usb attachment.

I have gone into my device manager and told my PC to not turn off any USB hubs.

I have reinstalled the oculus drivers. I have repaired the oculus app. Nothing works and I am desperate. Does anyone have a tip or fix for this?

Hi there sorry again. I have tried to set the audio to the headset but over the Link cable it does not work. I tried the troubling shooting steps in that linked thread and they did not work.
The audio works if I use Air link. However, I have some headphones that I have been using as a work around for this issue so I would think this is solved.

Hey there, @Kozer.1775! We understand that you're having some issues with connecting your Quest 3 to your PC through Quest Link. We know that this can take away valuable time from you, so we'd love to assist you with this issue. If you could double check and confirm with us that your PC meets the Requirements to use Meta Quest Link, we'd really appreciate that! We're also going to include some troubleshooting for you to try as well down below.

  • Ensure all cables are properly plugged into the PC in the right ports.
    • Quest via Link connects via USB-C 3.0
  • Please whitelist the Oculus software in your antivirus/firewall program.
  • If possible, please remove any adapters from the headset.
  • Rift/Link does not support the use of multiple dedicated graphics cards. If you have a CrossFire or an SLI configuration, please remove one of the graphics cards. The headset and primary monitor must be connected to the same dedicated graphics card.
  • Although some graphics cards can support multiple monitors, the Rift/Link can potentially experience issues if more than one monitor is connected. The only fully supported configuration is to have the headset and one monitor plugged in. If you're using 2 or more monitors or displays of any kind, please unplug the extras.
  • The Rift/Link is designed to work in tandem with a computer monitor. Though some TV's may work, they're not a supported form of secondary display for the Rift/Link. If you're using a TV, tablet, projector, or any other type of display, we'd ask that you remove it and connect a computer monitor instead, to ensure that you're using a supported secondary display.
  • Try reseating the cable on both the headset side and the side that plugs into the GPU and inspect it for damage such as bent pins, frays, twists, kinks, etc.
  • Disconnect any unnecessary USB devices (everything but the headset, keyboard, and mouse) and try the headset in another USB 3.0 port.
  • Try the headset on another computer if possible.

Once you try these troubleshooting steps, make sure to let us know if they do or don't work. If they dont work, dont worry, we've got more troubleshooting to send to you! Thank you so much for your patience. We're looking forward to your reply!

Hello,
I should have posted my PC parts.
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3d

32 gigs of ram

RTX 3090

I was able to get the Quest Link cable to work by resetting the CMOS on my motherboard. However, even though I can now connect my Quest 3 to my PC using the cable, it does not allow sound to go through and, if I play a game and turn my head, the cable will sometimes disconnect and I will need to unplug it from the quest 3 and plug it back in.

We appreciate the information! Glad the cable is somewhat working now. Have you double checked your PC audio settings? It is possible that Audio is not set to output to your headset. Be sure you check out this article to: Troubleshoot your Meta Quest Link audio. And if possible, can you test Air Link to see if you have the same issues? Even if the performance is not stellar, confirmation if audio works there would be great.
