Quest Link falsely showing touch controllers as connected

don800
Honored Guest

I'm using the Quest 3 with a link cable. When using Meta Quest Link to play PCVR games, the link software shows the touch controllers as "connected" even when they are powered off/have had no batteries in them since a week ago.

I'm looking to play PCVR/SteamVR games with a gamepad, which I used to be able to do no-problem, but ever since the last update I get these "ghost" controllers that conflict with the interface.

On top of falsely detecting the controllers, if I click on them from the "devices" tab in the Quest Link software, the option to "remove device" is grayed-out and cannot be clicked.

It's really frustrating that I cannot enjoy gamepad-only games anymore. Please stop these "ghost" touch controllers from haunting me...

Hey there,

We really appreciate you reaching out about this. First of all, do make sure you have no other controllers that could be being found by the PC, such as a spare Quest 2. In addition, we would advise you repairing your Quest PC app, which you can do by:

  1. Going to https://www.meta.com/quest/setup and click Download software.
  2. Selecting Repair.
    1. If Windows asks you if you are sure you want to open this file, click Yes.
    2. If Windows Defender prompts Windows protected your PC, click More info, and then click Run anyway.
    3. If your antivirus software restricts the file from opening, temporarily disable your AV and continue.
    4. Please remember to re-enable your antivirus software once you have completed the repair.
  3. Allow the repair process to run, download and install.
  4. Launch the Meta Quest PC app.

Let us know if this helps and if not you can open a support ticket here: https://www.meta.com/help/support/. We hope to here from you soon!
